Ford fell short of analysts' expectations in the second quarter of the 2016 fiscal year, with net income falling to $1.97 billion down from $2.16 billion the previous year. Whenever this happens Wall Street begins to wonder if there is a problem in the economy. Increasing pricing pressures from China, rising incentives in the U.S. driven by a more competitive market, and increasing costs around the world were to blame, according to Ford Motor Company. Nervous shareholders reacted to the news by selling shares, driving Ford stock prices down almost 10 percent, despite reassurances from Ford that the next quarter remains one of their strongest historically. "Sales are still at healthy levels overall, but the competitive environment has increased as retail demand has weakened," Ford CEO Mark Fields said. He also pointed to "plateauing new-car demand" and falling used car values. Similarly, Harley-Davidson reduced its 2016 motorcycle shipment guidance in response to a 5.2 percent drop in U.S. sales this quarter. They also cited 1.9 percent fewer sales globally, and noted that "preparations for economic uncertainty" was guiding their future moves.

Here is a rare one. Brandon Classics on St Simons Island, Georgia is offering a 1948 GMC Canopy Express for sale at a very interesting price point. High end collectors will want to take note of this price. You may not find one again in this kind of condition. Some of us might remember the days before giant super market chains when farmers markets were your main source of produce.  This ½-ton GMC Canopy Express series truck is the rarest of the all the "new Advance Design Series trucks" manufactured by both Chevrolet and GMC. I've seen Chevy versions of this truck run through the Barrett-Jackson Auction for big money. This 1948 GMC Canopy Express would be a spectacular addition to your collection.

Expert Mustang collector and restorer Glen Benza of Benza Motors in Milford, Ohio says this is "One of the nicest examples I have ever seen! Spectacular car." He describes this 1970 Boss 429 Mustang as being Concours restored with full documentation by Kevin Marti, KK# 2153. The Ford monster muscle car is said to have only 25k original miles. Benza says the owner history and provenance will impress you. He has recently driven the car and he declares that it will not disappoint in any way. He says some of the best restoration specialist in the U.S. have worked on the car. He calls it a "numbers matching blue chip investment." Click over to the ad page to view dozens of photos. You can see that it is Grabber blue with a white interior. It is said to have original invoices, manuals, receipts and history. The number of original and correct Boss 429 parts on this car is staggering.

Head Turner? No, heads will be on a swivel when this 1939 Lincoln Zephyr Custom glides by. Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois has just posted a radical classic custom that is designed by Deco Rides. Their purpose is to show Lincoln what it should have done with the popular Zephyr coupe. The number of custom mods is amazing. It has been chopped, rear fenders extended, skirts flushed, '49 Lincoln Zephyr push button door openers, '53 Kaiser rear bumper sectioned and has exhaust ports. The port holes are from a '56 Buick. One of the most sought after muscle cars of all time is the NASCAR winning 1969 Ford Torino Talladega super car which came into existence by homolagating Ford's Torino brand. Only 750 of these aerodynamic super speedway phenoms were produced by Ford from the factory. The private seller from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma says the Talladega remains numbers matching and has undergone a complete restoration. A Marti Report and partial build sheet are available. The most incredible thing about this ad is the price, however. Can you believe you could own this amazing and historic muscle car for just $42,999? Now that is a good buy.

For the fourth month in a row Camaros have captured the attention of internet buyers. The Chevrolet muscle car continued to lead our “Top Ten Most Popular� list for muscle cars, claiming 22.6 percent of internet searches (See our Camaro Section). Each month the Cars On Line staff analyzes statistics from Google and Bing search engines in order to understand consumer trends. Dodge Chargers remained steady in second place with 21.3 percent of internet searches, while Corvettes held onto third with 14.8 percent of searches. View the Top Ten Muscle Cars below.

Once again Chevrolet has taken the lead on our “Top Ten Most Popular� list for classic cars, claiming 69.6 percent of internet searches (See our Chevrolet Section). The Impala continued to be the vehicle driving the most interest, as it made up 69.2 percent of searches. Remaining steady in second place was former long-time leader Ford with 11.2 percent of searches. The rest of the classic car rankings remained relatively unchanged; however, you’ll note both Edsel and Lincoln have appeared on the Top Ten list this month.

There's just 28,742 original, documented miles on this 1967 Plymouth GTX Convertible, recently listed by Flemings Ultimate Garage in Rockville, Maryland. It is Triple Black and is said to be 1 of only 680 produced. It includes the original window sticker and is registered in the Galen Govier registry. Click to see more photos!

The restoration of this 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible began in 2009 according to the seller in Mesa, Arizona. It's going to have to be up to a buyer to finish it though. Maybe you? According to the ad, the body-off restoration began with a careful disassembly. The body has been blasted and primed. Numerous new parts and an additional 400ci engine are included. We found it as it was being listed in our Project Car Section.

Here's a completely restored 1955 Chevy Bel Air with a southern, rust-free body and frame. It is featured in a SLIDE SHOW ad this week, and is located in Bolton, Ontario, Canada. The seller tells us it's armed with a 383 stroker LT1 engine, 4160E transmission with Ford 9-inch rear end and Posi 390 gears, and a 4-link rear suspension. It also has custom leather and custom sound. The seller reduced it from $49,900 to $39,900, making it the PRICE REDUCED feature of the week.

The 1969 Pontiac GTO may have been one of the most beautiful muscle car designs of all time. With a little more creature comforts in the interior, the GTO had matured to being so desirable it was featured in movies and TV commercials that year. Now you too can afford one. I never thought I'd see the day when a 1958 Buick Roadmaster 75 2-Dr Hardtop which looked this nice would be offered for sale for under $20,000. Gateway Classic Cars in Indianapolis, Indiana has listed this one. They call it a reliable driver class car having been well maintained by the same family for 40 years. Options include: Air Conditioning, AM Radio, Power Windows, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts and White Wall Radial Tires. The chrome alone has to be worth the asking price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $19,995.

Few cars are so universally loved as the little 1963 Chevy Nova SS Convertible as the one here offered for sale out of Frankfort, New York. This one started life as a 6-cylinder but now has a rockin' 350 small block in it. The seller says there are some small bubbles in the paint. Have it inspected. But for the price it looks like it is worth looking into. He says the floors, trunk and frame are all good. It has bucket seats with Powerglide automatic with the shifter on the floor. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $17,500.

From a private seller in Springville, New York comes a sweet looking little 1939 Mercury Coupe that has been restored as a resto rod. Mostly original looking, it has a 350 Chevy small block rated at 395 hp, 350 trans, posi rear end, Chevy 10-bolt. The seller says it has an original frame redone using Chassis Engineering equipment. That is interesting. Be sure to ask how this was done. The seller says it has front disc brakes. He says it is cleaned up and ready. It will be our DEAL of the DAY with an asking price of $28,500. Nice price for a starter car. But we believe this is more than just a starter car.

For the longest time the 1960's era classic pickup trucks did not get the respect that classic '50s era trucks get. That may be changing. Some of the younger baby boomer generation collectors are feeling more nostalgic about rare trucks such as this 1960 Ford F100 Shortbed Stepside Pickup being offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. They tell us it runs and drives "great." They say it has a solid body with many upgraded original parts such as chrome. This one looks pretty nice in the photos. You don't see many this nice. That's why it will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. They are only asking $13,500.

A 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe is a very desirable find as judged by knowledgable hot rodders. It is one of the most popular classic cars to customize. This one has 400 Chevy engine, B&M automatic transmission, chrome engine parts and bumpers and reupholstered interior. The seller says it runs well. However he also discloses that it will need some TLC. Call to find out what he is referring to. As always, have it inspected before you buy. This one is priced so low that we will be featuring it as a DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $22,250.

Some of us are purists and only want to collect stock original classic cars. This 1939 Buick Model 41 Sedan from Shell Knob, MIssouri may be the perfect car for you. The private seller says it is an all original car with all new windows except back glass, all new weather stripping. He says it runs and the brakes and steering are all good. You should talk to the seller to see what needs to be done on this car. Also have it inspected. But the car takes a good photo, and it will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is $19,500.
