A 1961 Cadillac Series 62 Custom Pickup lived a charmed life as Evel Knievel's show piece early in his career. Finished in stunning Bright Red with a beautiful black interior and white vinyl top, this unique one-off was custom-built for Knievel, a motorcycle stunt rider who became an American icon. It was one of several custom Cadillac pickups that he owned throughout the years. Its uniqueness fit his flamboyance to a T.
The Series 62 custom conversion has a 390/325 hp big block motor mated to a Hydromatic automatic 4-speed transmission. Being a Cadillac, it comes with options such as power steering, power brakes, power seat and tilt steering wheel. This Series 62 Custom Pickup drives and performs well though its driver quality Bright Red paint shows a few signs of age. It is the perfect car to drive as-is or to restore. The documentation includes service records. It is currently being offered for sale by Dan Schmitt & Co in St Louis, Missouri. They are selling the car on consignment for the current owners in St Ann, Missouri. (Click this link to review their description of the car and see dozens of detailed photos.)
The team at Dan Schmitt & Co told us this Cadillac will gain value because of its historial value and its provenance. "We are proud to offer this Cadillac to the value-minded buyer who understands and appreciates this piece of American cultural history," they wrote in their ad copy. "Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years ... "

Linked above are the New Listings and Price Changes pages. These pages are updated in real time to include every addition to the Cars On Line.com Collector Car Market.
While Kim Kardashian, the No. 1 rated celebrity today, has been recently photographed by paparazzi in her collection of exotic cars, it must be hard to choose which one she'll drive each day. She has been seen in a white Rolls-Royce Ghost, a black Rolls-Royce Ghost custom built by Platinum Motorsports, a Mercedes G Wagon, Ferrari 458 Italia and a flat black Lamborghini Aventador. Teen idol Justin Bieber has all of the above plus an Audi R8 with leopard-skin themed paint. World famous soccer star David Beckham drives a Porsche 997 Turbo, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, black Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead and Rolls-Royce Ghost, Bentley Continental Supersports, Bentley Mulsanne, Chevy Camaro, Cadillac Escalade and a Range Rover.
Rhianna reportedly bought Chris Brown a million-dollar 2009 Mercedes SLR Stirling Moss Edition (shown above) for his 24th birthday.
World Championship boxer Floyd Mayweather just picked up a new Lamborghini Aventador for Christmas. In his garage are a Rolls-Royce Drophead, Rolls-Royce Phantom, Ferrari 599, Ferrari 458 Italia, Mercedes SLS, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Murcielago and a Mercedes SLR.
Now there is a blogger site which will keep you up to date on what celebrities are driving. Go to www.celebritycarsblog.com and find out what your favorite celebrity is driving. Livin' the dream.
We will be publishing our 2016 COL Market Trends Report in the final edition of the newsletter in two weeks. Having seen some of the preliminary numbers, we think the report will show that collector car prices continued to trend downward in the 4th fiscal quarter of 2016. (Click here to view the 3rd Quarter report published in October 2016.) But there is evidence that collectors should hold out hope for 2017.
Since the presidential election, what peope are calling "Trump-enomics" has put new life into the construction industry. U.S. Hombuilders' market sentiment increased in the past few weeks. They now see new home conctruction increasing. In addition, the energy sector of the economy is showing signs of new life as well. If oil production in this country is increased because of trans continental pipelines being approved, the frackers in North Dakota and Texas could start rehiring. And all the small businesses in that food chain will begin making money again. Just those two sectors could radically change the direction of the collector car market. You might say we need more Texas millionaires to jump start the number of players in the collector car market once again. There could be a chain reaction here.
It looks like what is setting up here is a classic Socialism vs Capitalism experiment. We may be able to conclude once and for all whether a growing private sector is more important than a growing public sector. We've had eight years of incentives to the public sector. Now we will observe what happens when government gives incentives to the private sector. This should be interesting.
So, what is selling today in the collector car market? Simple answer: Mopars, Trans Ams and classic '50s cars. Here is a 1956 Ford Sunliner just SOLD thru Cars On Line this week. "This is the second classic car I've sold on Cars On Line, and I will certainly do it again," Mark from Ridgefield, Connecticut wrote on his SOLD form. "This is the best way to sell a classic car!" Mark SOLD his 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner using our $45.00 Run Till Sold ad. He says his car was in No. 3 condition and in need of some TLC, but opining that it could be brought back to No. 2 condition. Mark knows why we always say: "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars On Line." Click this link to see what else SOLD this week on the Cars On Line website.

A few years ago Ford set out to build the Shelby of all Shelby sports racers. They named it the GT350R, the "R" designation harking back to the top classic first generation Shelby racer. And Ford meant it to be every bit as incredible as the first generation Shelby GT350R's were back in the day. Naturally aspirated just like the early R's, it comes muscle bound and track ready. A monster motor in a monster of a car.
This week, we were excited to see Classic Car Studio in St Louis, Missouri, post this incredible 2016 Shelby GT350R for sale with only 500 actual miles. Ford’s new 5.2L Voodoo motor raps out to a shrill 8,250 RPM. Sweet music to your ears. It whines a TR3160 Tremec 6-speed through the gears, while a 3.73 rear end launches the car out of the hole. The flat plane crank, all aluminum V8 is the most powerful naturally aspirated motor Ford has produced to date, whipping up a fierce 526 horsepower. Feel that excitement streaming up your spine just thinking about it.
One of the most mysterious muscle cars of all time is this 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX Convertible. There is not much written about these phenomenol performance cars from Oldsmobile. They were a "poor man's" Olds 442. But literature on these big block muscle cars is hard to find. We do know that this one is one of only 127 convertible versions ever built. It is being offered for sale from the private collection of Murray Oliphant of Columbia, South Carolina. He says it still has just 48k orignal miles. Well appointed, it comes with air conditioning, cruise control and "power everything." The 455 ci big block engine is backed by a Turbo 400 automatic topped with a Hurst shifter. Originally a North Carolina car, he says it has no rust issues and is in excellent show condition.
Flemings Ultimate Garage knows what you want to see in the video for this 1965 Mustang GT Fastback. Tony Fleming gives an impressive pitch, which includes getting you a close up of that beautiful white paint, a thorough walk around with tour of the engine bay, and the full sounds of that upgraded 289 engine. If you can't see it above, then be sure to click here to watch! It's fully restored with everything you could want. "Everyone will be paying attention to you in this."

Originally intended for the Australian market, this 1994 Corvette ZR1 was converted to right hand drive but ended up staying in America. It remained in a collection ever since and has added just 3,800 miles to the odometer since new. With options, we're told the value when it left the factory exceeded $100,000! It remains virtually flawless and is for sale with Sovereign Auto Group of Flushing, Michigan.

Here's a 1957 Ford Ranch Wagon that's good to go as it is according to the seller, but a dedicated restoration could do it wonders. These wagons are hugely popular and taking this one to the next level is a worthy project. It has semi-flat clear coat paint that looks like primer with added pin stripes. The seller tells us most of the hard work is done. It needs a steering box rebuild and some brake work. Take a closer look and see if it's for you! It's located in Oregon City, Oregon.

That motor is original, and comes balanced and blueprinted according to the ad. The price was once $110,000, but is now just $90,000. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
We couldn't wait to show you this 1967 Chevelle Super Sport just posted this week. Here is an opportunity to own one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. The Super Sport Chevelle is reported to be an older restoration with a big block 454 motor, along with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, bucket seats, console, AM/FM stereo, chrome wheels and dual exhaust. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy. You should make sure that it is a solid No. 3 Condition muscle car. But, that considered, it is priced right to be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $24,500.
Here is one you don't see very often. Country Classic Cars of Staunton, Illinois just posted a 1946 Dodge Classic Pickup from their huge inventory. They tell us it is a good solid truck which runs and drives well. A buyer should not expect show quality in this one. They say the interior has been nicely redone (see photos.) It has custom paint and wide white wall tires. The motor is a Flathead 6 cylinder with a 3-speed manual transmission. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $13,150.
KC Classic Auto in Lenexa, Kansas just posted a 1973 Corvette Coupe for sale in our Corvette Section. From the photos in the ad you can see it has Bright Yellow metallic paint with a contrasting black interior. They tell us this car is a "very strong" driver and is very solid. According to the ad copy it comes with an extra powerful 350 V8, automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, tilt wheel and a Pioneer stereo. You can see why we picked it to be next week's DEAL of the DAY. with the price set at just $15,500.
If you've been looking for a classic pickup truck from the 1960's you've got to consider this one. Vintage Motorcars in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin listed a 1964 Chevy C-10 Pickup for sale this week. They do some pretty nice restorations there. They tell us this truck has just been painted and is stunning. They say, "This is an extremely well maintained truck, and starts and drives like new. This C10 is still running the original 6 cylinder engine that purrs along perfectly." It will be our DEAL of the DAY in the coming week with an asking price of $15,900. Hurry on this one! It may sell before we can feature it on our home page next week.
The little Chevrolet Corvair has one of the of the strongest cult movements of enthusiasts in the collector car market. Popular Corvair clubs may be found all over the U.S. They just love to restore cars such as this 1965 Corvair Monza Convertible which was just listed by Gateway Classic Cars in Detroit, Michigan. The Corvair Club there is one of the strongest in the country. They tell us that the air cooled Corvair is powered by a numbers matching 2.7 liter flat-six, which is the 110 horse power model and is backed by a 2-speed automatic transmission. They are asking just $14,995 for this one.
All of a sudden you are seeing these Porsche 944's popping up for sale on the internet at upscale prices. Most of them are being offered for $13,000 to $15,000 by classic car dealers. Here is one that is more modestly priced. A Virginia enthusiast has listed his Champagne Gold 1985 Porsche 944 for sale. The history of this 944 is documented from new and comes with a book full of service receipts. He says it would make a great "daily driver." It is priced to sell now. In the coming week, it will be our DEAL of the DAY with an asking price of $8,500.
At the little classic car dealership in the Midwest called Coyote Classics they specialize in low cost collector cars. This week they posted a rare 1946 Plymouth Deluxe which has not been cut or modified. Part of its charm are the suicide rear doors. Click thru to the ad to see dozens of detailed photos. Coyote Classics tells us it is show quality. As always, you should have it inspected before you buy. But this one should be worth your effort. Click here to see a walk-around video. You'll see it in our DEAL of the DAY in the coming week if it doesn't sell before hand. The asking price is only $12,995.
