I was just talking to a good ole boy from Virginia who had an interesting take on the chaos in the stock market this week. He said, " I got two types of things I invest in. One is a steel box I got in my office, and the rest all have keys to 'em so you can start 'em up. These cars are the best things you can invest in." Even the old time-tested motto, "You can take that to the bank" doesn't have any meaning any more. Banks are disappearing faster than popcorn in a dog dish. Yet a nice old classic Chevy, Ford or Mopar ... that's something for which you can always get cash.

This is another one of those weeks where, if you're looking to get into this hobby, a lot of very desirable classic cars are available at entry level prices. You may never again in your lifetime see these cars this cheap. I haven't seen prices on muscle cars this low since about five years ago at this time. Rolling back the prices five years ... man, lightning rarely strikes in the same place twice. Don't miss this opportunity. There are some great cars in today's New Listings.

TOP TEN MOST POPULAR
Everybody thinks muscle cars are the most popular cars in the collector car hobby. But that just isn't true. Even though the Camaro Section and the Mopar sections are the most popular categories on our website, when it comes to viewing individual cars, Pro Streets, Street Rods and Lowriders get more views per vehicle. For example, the most popular car active on our website is a 1967 Chevy Nova SS Pro Street from Baker, Florida. It was viewed 6,797 times in the past 30 days. Here is a list of the Top Ten Vehicles For Sale on the Cars On Line website.

Most Popular Cars
Rank  Car  Location Hits
1  1967 Chevy Nova SS Baker, Florida 6,797
2  1969 Camaro Pro Street Colchester, Vermont 6,547

6  1967 Corvette Pro Street Canton, Ohio 4,957
 7  1934 Chevy 3-Window Waukesha, Wisconsin 4,836

10  1959 Chevy Nomad Wagon Decatur, Alabama 4,508

CARS ON LINE INSPECTION SERVICE

A Virginia man submitted a request to have a car looked at by the Inspection Service. The car had been advertised on eBay by a classic car dealer from Ohio. The Virginia buyer knew that the car was a modified muscle car, a 1969 Camaro SS which had been given a big block 454 cubic inch engine. "I don't have any major concerns," the Virginia buyer told us. "I just want to make sure the vehicle is as described and mechanically and electrically sound. Please do a complete inspection ... and as many photos as possible."

An inspector in Ohio took a look at the Camaro. Click this link to view the inspection and appraisal report. Be sure to view the photos linked at the end of the report.

After he had received the report the Virginia man considered whether he wanted to proceed with the purchase of the '69 Camaro through the online auction. "The inspection was very professional and well put together," he wrote to us a few days later. "I also appreciate the urgency you applied to this inspection due to the auction deadline. The pictures and the report provided enough information for me to decide not to purchase the vehicle at the price he was asking. I don't think I would have been as thorough if I had been there myself. Money well spent! Thank you again, and I will definitely use your service again in the future." He signed it, "A very satisfied customer."

If you haven't been there recently, be sure to visit the Cars On Line Inspection Service pages (or find the link on our home page.) The sample reports are fun to read, and you can sign up on the "Place Order Here" tab anytime, day or night.

LOW MILES SECTION
Here's something a little different this week in the low miles section. Usually the low miles cars are luxury cars that don't get much daily use. But here, a 1965 Shelby Cobra reproduction was posted for sale by a Bellefontaine, Ohio man. He says this is a coveted Factory Five Cobra Mk 3, and he says it is a show winner wherever you go. Check the photos of the undercarriage which proves the point. Interestingly, he says the engine and drive train were purchased from Shelby American in California. It has a 427 Windsor turnkey motor with Demon 850 carburetor, a Borg Warner topload 5-speed transmission and a new Ford rear end -- all built by Shelby. On top of that, the seller says the car has just 731 miles since it was built.

Among the classic sports cars in today's New Listings is a 1969 Corvette Coupe from Sarasota, Florida. The seller says this car would satisfy even the pickiest Corvette enthusiasts. It should, after all, he says there are just 28k actual miles on this Vette. Also, a Lakeland, Florida collector offers a 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis from Lakeland, Florida which they say has only 34k miles; and a 1977 Ford Thunderbird which he says has 55k miles and he's only asking $10,950.

There are many more in today's New Listings. Or check out all the cars available for sale in the Low Miles Section online.

PROJECT CARS
For restoration specialists looking for a project car to restore, the hot ticket this week is the 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible which is being offered for sale by Joy's Motorsports in Benton, Kansas. They say there are just a few things to do to finish the car. A frame off restoration has been started. They say every nut and bolt has been replaced. The car was originally a New Mexico car. It has factory air conditioning, new interior, new top and all of the chrome on the car has been redone.

Another easy restoration to finish is the 1957 Plymouth Fury from North Augusta, South Carolina. They say all the hard work has been done. You can just finish it up.

If you are looking for a project make sure you watch our New Listings page for daily updates. Or you can view hundreds of project car ads in the Cars On Line Project Car Section online.

These are the cars that the Cars On Line staff judges to be the best deals on our website. The average buyer has to wait till next week to see all these bargains when they appear on our home page. However newsletter readers get to preview them here first.

You'll have to hurry to get a shot at this one. A 1970 Buick Gran Sport 455 Convertible has been listed out of Cave City, Kentucky. Back in 1970, Motor Trend was impressed with the Buick Grand Sport as being the fastest muscle car for that year, at the height of the muscle car era. This one has a beautiful burnished bronze paint job, dark saddle interior, buckets and a console. The seller says all the body panels are rust free and it has a new dark chocolate top. He says the car looks and drives excellent, shifts great. He expresses his opinion that it would take very little to make it a show quality car. He assures buyers that it has an all original drive train and only 89k original miles. Only 1,416 Buick Gran Sport 455 Convertibles were produced in 1970. I would expect this car to be a No. 3 condition vehicle. Make sure to determine the condition class of this vehicle before you buy it. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday with an asking price of $25,000.

Wow! What an opportunity. If you've been wanting to get involved in the classic car hobby, but can't afford a real rock n roll '50s car, here's your chance. This 1957 Lincoln Sedan from Greenfield, Wisconsin is an absolute steal! Only 1,476 of these base model Lincoln Capri Sedans were produced in 1957. It was the first year for the double headlights and the most exaggerated tailfin design in Lincoln's history. The seller says this car is a great driver and very reliable. He says it comes with an NOM 416 horsepower engine, automatic transmission, new shocks and water pump, belts and hoses. He says the heater works. It is a cruiser with dual exhaust. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday ... the asking price is $6,000. Hurry! This is too good to pass up.

Every time we do a statistical analysis of our website we find out how many car enthusiasts are interested in the lowrider hobby. This 1962 Chevy Impala SS Lowrider from Newton, Wisconsin will prove that again this weekend. Expect it to get its share of hits. The 2-Dr Hardtop Impala Super Sport is said to have a strong 350 V8 engine, Turbo 350 transmission, 8-valve Showtime hydraulic pumps, 2 large 12-volts and Tru Spoke wheels. Now if they really wanted to highlight this car the seller should have given us a video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week if it lasts that long. The asking price is just $14,900.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

Here is a great deal on a late model American sports car. A black 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible was posted for sale from Crofton, Maryland. There are 105,000 miles on this car which explains to some extent why the price is so reasonable. But I think you'll agree that this is a lot of car for the money. The seller says it is very clean, and has a new top. The engine is the 5.7L V8, MFI/SFI, with tan leather interior, air conditioning, power steering, power windows, power door locks, power seats, tilt wheel, cruise control, premium sound AM/FM, CD, dual front airbags, 4-wheel ABS, with rear spoiler and alloy wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Where can you get this much car for just $10,500?

There have been so many classic Cadillac convertibles in the New Listings in the past two weeks. I've never seen so many listed before. But the best deal, I believe, is this 1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible from Russellville, Alabama. From the photos I think you'll agree that the car wears its 7-year-old paint very well. The seller says it runs great, has a 472 cubic inch V8 engine with a Quadra Jet carburetor. It says the power windows and door locks are working. But the power top is not, and it needs a pump. He says it also needs rear coil springs. Also the heater and air conditioning need work. It is described as an original California car, and a fun cruiser, not a show car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week as the asking price is only $6,800.

Newsletter readers know that we often talk about how hard it is to find Chevelle convertibles. Well, because we say that so often, anyone with a Chevelle convertible naturally lists it here. But not many ever find their way here to the DEAL of the DAY feature. You don't find them priced this affordably. Check out the 1967 Chevelle Convertible just posted from Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. This is not a big block car, but it could be. It has the 327 with a Powerglide. The seller says it has a new suspension, new interior, new sheet metal, newer top and a new radiator. This is not a totally restored car, but the seller says it is a nice ride that runs perfect and you can drive it home to anywhere. It will be displayed in our DEAL of the DAY feature on the front page of the website next week. The asking price is $18,500.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

You've heard us say that there are some cars that were born to be collector cars. Some of these cars have not yet achieved the desirability to have collector status, but are sure bets to be top collector cars some day. That happens to cars as they get older. One of these "future collectibles" that we've told you to watch for is the Camaro Z/28, from 1978-81. Well, here is a 1979 Camaro Z/28 listed from Douglasville, Georgia which might be the "sleeper" in this week's DEAL of the DAY feature. The seller says it is a numbers matching original Z/28 in the unusual beige/camel color combo. He says it has air that needs to be converted and charged, 350 ci V8, TH350 automatic, aluminum turbine wheels and a laundry list of new or refinished items. Most, important, it runs out strong. It will be our DEAL of the DAY if it lasts that long ... because you can buy it now for just $9,500!

A 1968 Mercury Cougar from Rockville, Indiana was offered for sale. While it may not make the DEAL of the DAY feature this week, it darn well should have. Be sure to check it out. The asking price is $10,850.
