This has been one of those weeks where, as prices were tumbling on Wall Street, the same thing is happening in the collector car market. If you are a buyer it may never be any better than this. Just look at the DEAL of the DAY feature below. And you won't believe the prices on late model sports cars in our $10,000-AND-UNDER feature this week. You can pick up some very nice collectible late model sports cars so cheap you can use them as daily drivers. I'm amazed at how many very nice muscle cars are available below for $10,000 to $15,000, some of them even have matching numbers. At these prices, you can afford two! ... but you can't afford "not to."

I'm impressed that in this week's listings there are some of the rarest muscle cars of all time. Many of these high dollar cars have been listed by Arizona Classics of Scottsdale, Arizona and Happy Days Dream Cars of Warrensburg, Missouri. Be sure to look for the links to their inventories. I think you'll be amazed at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to own some truly rare Detroit iron. There are many such opporunities in this newsletter. Enjoy.

RARE CLASSIC MUSCLE CARS
It is not very often that you get to see a classic muscle car which is considered "one of one", as rare as it gets in the collector car world. But John Meyer, owner of Happy Days Dream Cars of Warrensburg, Missouri, proved this week why he not only runs one of the best little classic car dealerships in the country, he's also one of the top collectors in the country. He listed this 1968 Mustang GT "R" Code with the 428 Cobra Jet engine, automatic transmission and 4.30 Traction-Lok rear end ... the only one built in 1968. John found the car in an article in the April 2008 edition of  Mustang Monthly on page 29, under the subheading titled: "Rare of the Rare" this 1968 Sportsroof with automatic and 4.30 rear end appears at the top of the list of the rarest Mustangs, (1 of 1 ever built.) In 1968 Ford built only one (1) fastback with a 428 Cobra Jet engine with automatic and the 4.30 Traction-Lok, and this is that Mustang! John says it is verified in an Elite Marti Report. This is the type of car you can find at Happy Days Dream Cars. For a look at their entire inventory, click this link.

Man, I've been searching for one of these since the early 1980's. I couldn't believe it when Arizona Classics posted this ad this afternoon. Wow! This is a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air IV Convertible! There were only 37 GTO convertibles built with the Ram Air IV option which produced 370 horsepower. It is unknown how many of these 37 could have been Judges. They just don't know. It is thought to be the second rarest factory production series muscle car convertible ever (only two 1967 Hemi Coronet Convertibles were produced.) Every time I see a GTO Convertible, the first thing I look for is to see if it has the "RA IV" on the corner of the exhaust manifold. It just comes from habit. But never did I ever think I'd see a Ram Air IV Judge convertible. This takes the cake. Arizona Classics says this car has been rotisserie restored and is a full numbers matching 400/370 hp RA IV with Turbo 400 automatic transmission and heavy duty Safe-T-Track rear end. This Judge has power disc brakes, heavy duty suspension, hood tach and AM-FM stereo 8-Track player. The color is #28 Atoll Blue Metallic. They say it is documented with the factory Protect-O-Plate and full PHS report. Arizona Classics is a small classic car dealer from Scottsdale, Arizona. Here is a sample of their fine inventory.

Another interesting ad came in from a private seller in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is offering a rare 1967 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe. This car was actually produced by Pontiac for the Canadian market. Chevrolet did not sell the Nova in Canada, although the Acadian was essentially a Nova with another name. This 1967 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe is said to be one of only 370 such cars produced. The car itself is not original having been given 4-wheel disc brakes, rebuilt 700R4 transmission, 2500 stall, B&M Stage 2 shift kit, 4:10 Eaton posi rear end and headers with 2 ½” exhaust. But it has period correct 327 fuelie heads. All in all, this is a very unique and rare vehicle, especially in the United States.

CARS ON LINE INSPECTION SERVICE

We've noticed that a very disturbing thing is happening in the collector car market. Prices have dropped so low on many cars that buyers are jumping on the lower prices without having the cars inspected. That is risky behavior. Even though you may not be paying as much for the car as you would have two years ago, why drop a chunk of change only to be disappointed when the car arrives? If you haven't been there recently, be sure to visit the Cars On Line Inspection Service pages. The sample reports are fun to read, and you can sign up on the "Place Order Here" tab any time night or day.

LOW MILES SECTION
A private seller from Redmond, Washington posted this 1979 Volkswagen Epilogue Convertible for sale. As the Beetle body style was coming to an end, this last Special Edition VW convertible was marketed in the United States and appeared at dealers late in the year. You could only get the Epilogue edition in triple black - black paint, black top and black interior. They were born to be collector items and the few that came to the U.S. were gobbled up before they could make it to the dealer showroom floors. This was the last year for the VW Beetle convertible to be sold in the U.S. This one was preserved with only 8,100 actual miles, says the seller. He says it "drives and purrs better than new. Every part works perfectly, never seen rain incredibly fun to drive and great investment."

Likewise, with 2002 being the last year of the Trans Am from Pontiac, this 2002 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible Collector Edition from Savage, Minnesota was purchased as a collector item. That explains why it has only 1k miles on it. Also see a 1987 Buick Grand National from Ft. Wayne, Indiana with only 9,254 documented miles. And a 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe was listed by Fast Lane Classic Cars of St. Charles, Missouri with only 11,703 miles.

There are many more in today's New Listings. Or check out all the cars available for sale in the Low Miles Section online.

PROJECT CARS
Here is a car that will get you attention wherever you go. A York, Pennsylvania car jocky listed this 1971 Plymouth Duster "Shortie" Convertible. Obviously it has been shortened and modified. They say it was shortened about the length of the back seat, was a modified show car from "day one" back in '71, and has under 11,000 miles. They say it is street legal, and currently has a 360 ci V8 engine, automatic transmission and custom interior. It has a very unique history. While it is in rough shape now, you can see that the car has possibilities. Be sure to check to see if it tracks correctly and drives out okay. The custom mods on this car lend it to a lot of creative thinking. What would you do with it?

Don't miss the 1970 Boss 302 Mustang from Winchester, Indiana. While there is obviously a lot of work that needs to be done to this vehicle, the seller says it will be an easy restoration. He ought to know. His business is restorations. A very desirable 1941 Willys project was listed from Beaver, Kentucky. The '41s are the most sought after street rods in the hobby.

If you are looking for a project make sure you watch our New Listings page for daily updates. Or you can view hundreds of project car ads in the Cars On Line Project Car Section online.

DEAL OF THE DAY
Here in the Cars On Line Daily Update newsletter readers get to preview the cars that will be in our DEAL of the DAY feature for the coming week. These are the cars that the Cars On Line staff judges to be the best deals on our website. If you are not a newsletter reader you'd have to wait till next week to see all these bargains. However newsletter readers get to preview them here first.

We don't very often have cars offered for $46,000 in the DEAL of the DAY feature. But today is a special situation. Other than a Hemi Cuda, the most desired car in the collector car market today is a 1969 Camaro Z/28 like this one from Bolivar, Missouri. You just don't expect to find one in this price range. The seller says it is a very nice driver quality car that would present well at local car shows. The motor is not the one that came with this car, but it is equipped with a correct date coded real DZ302, he says. However, the carburetor and distributor are not correct. You can check it out. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday with an asking price of $46,000.

Do we have the Camaros to choose from today. Also see a nice 1972 Camaro SS, said to be a true SS, listed from Palm Bay, Florida for $13,500. And a 1974 Camaro Type LT was posted from Fremont, New Hampshire for $13,900.

When this ad came in we were worried it might be a scam at first when we saw that the price was so low. So we called the seller in Springbrook, Ontario, Canada and found out that indeed he was selling his 1973 Plymouth Road Runner, the one that looks so nice in the photos. He described it as being a nice No. 3 condition car that has no rust and was restored a few years back. However he said the people who restored the car used too much bondo. He said it really needs to be redone again. Yet, he says the car is fun to drive and you can enjoy it the way it is until you redo the restoration. He says it has a 360 small block motor which was rebuilt in '06 w/new parts, 4-speed Pistol Grip shifter and an Edlebrock carburetor. He says the paint looks good. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week ... the asking price is $9,500. Hurry! We think these Road Runners will be excellent "future collectibles."

This one is way too good to be true ... but it is. A racer from Surprise, Arizona wants to sell his 1965 Chevy Nova which he describes as a street or strip car. This car looks very sharp in the photos. He says it has a 406 small block Chevy with Dart Iron heads, Engle rotating assembly, SRP pistons, 11.5 to 1 compression and 850 cfm Proform carburetor. He says it ran a best of 10.97 @ 120 miles per hour. It is equipped with air shifter, 3500 stall converter, 9" Currie rear end w/spool and Air-O-Space front disc brakes. He says it has a clear Arizona title and license plates. You know this is a lotta car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is just $12,500.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

As expected we are seeing quite a few convertibles being listed for sale. It's the end of the season and owners are trying to move them before they have to store them over the winter. This is the best time of the year to buy a convertible if you are looking to pick up a bargain. And that's just what this 1970 Buick Electra 225 Convertible from Ft. Wayne, Indiana appears to be. The seller describes it as "beautiful" and you can tell from the Slide Show photos that he's probably right. He says it still has the factory original 455 big block engine with a 4-barrel carb. The car also features dual exhaust, 6-way power seats, power sindows and a new power top motor. He says the convertible top itself is in excellent condition. He says the interior only has one tear, while the frame and floors look to be excellent. He says you could drive it home from anywhere. And I bet it would be a smooth ride. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Can you believe you can still buy this much car for just $9,800?

While you are looking at the convertibles in today's New Listings, be sure to check out the 1970 Cadillac DeVille Convertible from Jamestown, New York. It is featured in a Slide Show ad so you can really get a look at the detail on this car. They are only asking $13,900.

Here is a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 which the seller says is a numbers matching car. That's right, the seller says it has a numbers matching 340 engine. What's more, he says he has the build sheet and data plate. He says it has always been garage kept, has all original sheet metal with only one spot of rust on the passenger quarter panel. In the description he states that the trunk, floors and frame are solid, interior is in great shape, as is the rug and headliner. He describes the B7 blue paint as being very nice. He says it still has original paint in the trunk and engine bay. The car has air conditioning, power steering and disc brakes. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week ... he's only asking $15,000.

Midwest Car Exchange from Alsip, Illinois also posted this exceptional deal on a black 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with red hood scoops. They're only asking $9,900.

There have been a few pre-owned car haulers posted for sale in the past few weeks. If you are looking for something that won't cost you that much and is still in shape to haul your collection around, you might want to inspect this 1997 Ford F-450 XLT Hauler being offered for sale from Whitsell, North Carolina. It is an XLT model F-450 with a 20-foot Hodges hauler bed. It comes with a 9000-pound Pierce electric winch, 7.3 liter Power Stroke Diesel engine and an automatic transmission. The truck has power windows and power door locks. The gray cloth interior doesn't look like it has had much wear from the photos. You never find nice ones this cheap. It will be displayed in our DEAL of the DAY feature on the front page of the website next week. The asking price is pretty affordable at $12,500.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

We often use the term "a lot of car for the money" when we describe cars in the DEAL of the DAY feature of the newsletter. That phrase sure fits this 1955 Chevy Pro Street car that has been listed from a seller in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. It is a 2-door Post edition. It comes with a 468 cubic inch big block roller motor, gear drive, 400 Turbo transmission with a 3500 torque converter, tilt glass front end, aluminum radiator, Camaro stub, Weld wheels, boxed frame, 9-inch rear end with 4:56 gears and a spool. It also comes with 32-spline axles, coil overs, ladder bar and an 8-point cage. The seller describes it as a race car with lights and mufflers. The mufflers are Flowmasters by the way. Best of all, the car looks righteous in the photos. But what I can't believe is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week ... because you can own this car for $19,500!

There are so many more cars that should have made the DEAL of the DAY feature this week. It is a shame we can feature on seven cars. Here are some more that would have been DEAL of the DAY in a less busy week.
