The Labor Day Weekend was good to our advertisers. Just look at the SOLD notices that are coming in already (see SOLD feature below.)

Smart buyers will be looking for reduced prices on convertible cars, motorhomes and boats starting this week. At this time of the year you should be able to pick up an excellent deal on any of the three. The number of buyers has been increasing. Last week we had over 500,000 page views a day for four days in a row. When we witness that kind of interest we know the market is once again growing. That always happens in September which is one of our best months of the year.

RARE CLASSIC MERCURY
In the Classic Mercury Section is a car you may not see again in your lifetime ... that's how rare it is. A 1956 Mercury Monarch Richelieu Convertible was advertised by a collector from Campbellsport, Ontario, Canada. There were 7,762 upscale Montclair convertibles built by Mercury in the U.S., but the seller says only 163 Monarch Richelieu Convertibles were produced for the Canadian market. The Ford plant in Oakville, Ontario is where they were built. Monarchs were Montclairs with different badging. The front bumper, grille, hood, trunk ornamentation and stainless trim on the sides are visibly different if you note the photos. They say that there are only 13 of these cars left in existence. This is a beautiful example with correct 312 V8 automatic, power steering, power brakes, Town & Country radio, smooth working Hartz cloth power top, continental kit and spot lights. The seller says the chrome and stainless are excellent. Cars On Line newsletter readers will be the first to have a crack at buying this wonderful classic Mercury.

BIG SHOWS IN SEPTEMBER
Don't miss the BIG ONE, the Fall Charlotte AutoFair in Concord, North Carolina at Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend, September 4-7, 2008.
It is the Hornet's Nest Region AACA Fall meet which claims to be the biggest collector car show in the southeastern part of the U.S. They say there will be over 100,000 collectors looking for parts among the 8,000 swap spaces and 1,600 cars for sale in the car corral. Always check the Cars On Line
Car Show Calendar to see if there are any big car shows, swap meets or classic car auctions in your area. If you don't you'll miss the Rebel Run in Lima, Ohio, or the Route 66 Rendevous in San Bernardino, California, or the James Dean Run in Fairmount, Indiana.

K.I.T.T. IS BACK IN A TV SERIES

If you liked that Knight Rider pilot that ran last year on NBC-TV, you're gonna love the new Knight Rider TV series starring a black 2008 Shelby GT500 in the leading role. The first episode is Wednesday, September 24 at 7 PM Eastern time on NBC-TV. Here is a link to NBC's promo clip on the new series. Some of the new features of this year's edition of K.I.T.T. include a new turbo hood scoop, a rear wing and fender scoops that "self actuate" which is techno lingo to describe how the car morphs into other shapes and colors. Producer Scott Thompson unveiled the new "Attack Mode" look for K.I.T.T. in a recent promo. See the unveiling in this short video clip. Evidently when K.I.T.T. goes into attack mode it takes on a different look. Watch the video to see why. If you're like me you probably can't get enough of this series. It is so cool.

LOW MILES SECTION
The original dealer window sticker is still on the window of this incredible 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix Aerodynamic 2+2. They say it was built by Pontiac so that Richard Petty could run a hopped up version with 500 horsepower in the Grand National Series that year. There were only 200 of these 2+2 versions produced. It has significantly different aerodynamic features including a heavily sloped front facia, sloped rear glass and large rear spoiler. The power plant is a 305ci V8 with a 4-barrel. The suspension was beefed up. These cars were only sold at Pontiac dealerships in the southeastern part of the country. This car is from the Atlanta area. They say it has only 187 actual miles on the odometer. The ad says it is like new, fully documented and always garaged in a climate controlled building. You can really get a good look at it in the Slide Show ad online.

You'll also want to view a pair of luxury class full size cars just posted by Classical Gas Motors of Mansfield, Texas. One is a 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car with just 22k miles. The other is a rare 1976 Chrysler New Yorker with 36k miles.

There are many more in today's New Listings. Or check out all the cars available for sale in the Low Miles Section online.

PROJECT CARS
For anyone who is looking for a project car to build from scratch, make sure you comb through our New Listings today. There are some very important collector cars that could be money makers if you can finish them. For instance, see a 1971 Plymouth Cuda from Holden, Missouri that has the right desirabililty to be worth the effort to restore. The seller says it has a #s matching 340 engine and came with bucket seats, console, factory air conditioning, power steering, hood pins, FY1 Top Banana paint, black vinyl top, black interior and very rare billboard stripe.

Some restorations are easier than others. This 1973 Mach 1 Mustang from Marietta, Georgia which they say is all original should be an easier one. Another great one to look at is this 1970 Mach 1 Mustang from Boonesmill, Virginia which they say has a #s matching 351C 4V. The most desirable Mustang resto I've seen in a while is the 1969 Mach 1 S Code 390 big block car from Shediac, New Brunswick, Canada. The seller says it is a real S Code car and that it is numbers matching. But this is going to be a real challenging restoration to complete. There is also a 1970 Mustang Mach 1, Grabber blue, M Code 351 from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Outside of the muscle car realm, here is a 1954 Packard Panama from Dayton, Ohio which they say is all original for restoration. And a wonderful project, a 1936 Ford 2-Door Slantback from Costa Mesa, California is presented in a Slide Show ad. I'm betting it will make an outstanding street rod. By the way, Slide Show ads are a great way to sell project cars. You need to see so much more of the car to make a decision on which car would be right to restore.

If you are looking for a project make sure you watch our New Listings page for daily updates. Or you can view hundreds of project car ads in the Cars On Line Project Car Section online.

PRICE CHANGES PAGE
When cars on our site are marked down by the seller you'll see a PRICE REDUCED tag next to the price. Here is a 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible from Branford, Connecticut which has just been reduced to $13,800. As you know, we think the classic Firebirds are a bargain compared to their cousins the classic Camaros. They are a great investment play. And now at this reduced price, here is a driver quality example that is very affordable. The smart thing to do would be to have it inspected. But hurry! Firebird convertibles are getting harder to find all the time.

In this market, you're seeing more and more of those PRICE REDUCED tags in our listings. You'll find a handy reference for all of them on the Price Changes page. Check it daily because prices are getting reduced at an incredible rate. You may want to make it a habit to view the Price Changes page whenever you check the New Listings page. That way you won't miss any of the PRICE REDUCED ads as they are updated in real time.

DEAL OF THE DAY
Here in the Cars On Line Daily Update newsletter readers get to preview the cars that will be in our DEAL of the DAY feature for the coming week. These are the cars that the Cars On Line staff judges to be the best deals on our website. If you are not a newsletter reader you'd have to wait till next week to see all these bargains. However newsletter readers get to preview them here first.

I've said it so often in past newsletters that newsletter readers will get tired of hearing it. But it is so true. "Chevelle big block convertibles are as rare as frog hairs" in this current market. You just don't see them. But today we actually have one here in the DEAL of the DAY feature. A 1971 Chevelle SS 454 Convertible was advertised from Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania. And it's affordable! The seller does not have documentation for this car and seems to make no claims about originality. You'll have to investigate on that one. But he does show the car off in a Slide Show ad so you can see the detail. That is a fairly rare color combo of Classic Copper paint with white stripes. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $32,900.

We are seeing some nice low pricing on late model Corvettes recently. You can get a Corvette at a very affordable price these days. But even with the bevy of low prices, this 2000 Corvette Coupe from Corona, California is way cheap. The color is Sebring silver with a black leather interior, and only 40,300 actual miles, says the seller. The options include memory package, tilt telescopic steering, performance rear axle, 12-CD disc changer w/Bose stereo system, handling package, Tri Flo exhaust system and Tri Flo headers installed professionally. He says it also comes with service records and the original dealer window sticker. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week ... the asking price is $19,000.

You won't believe this next one ... a one-of-a-kind custom 1977 Dodge Conversion Van is offered for sale by Braatens Auto Center in Rochester, Minnesota. Back in the 1970's when customizing was in its hayday you'd see one of these unique custom conversions on occasion. But it is very rare to see one this nicely done today. For fun, they call it a "SUPER MAX" Dodge van with the front end of a classic Mercury Marquis. They say the Ford 460 and C-6 automatic transmission works great in this old cruiser. The van also has a tandem axle to support the extra length and weight of a trailer. The van is set up for Air Ride suspension and air-over-water pressure for the sink and toilet. It also has a holding tank, and much more. It is a virtual Recreational Vehicle in a van. For all the work done to this van, you can still get it for only $2,999. But you better hurry!

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

Chevy Impalas are incredibly popular collector cars. Very few makes of cars have stood the test of time and held the popularity that the Impala enjoys among collectors. So we always get excited when one like this 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is posted for sale. The 4-speed SS comes from West Charlton, New York and has a 327 V8 engine. It looks pretty clean in the photos. The seller says the car is rust free and that even the paint is fairly new and still takes a good shine. Check out the photos of the interior. The seller says there are a couple of seams separating on the bucket seats. He says the chrome and molding are in good condition. He says the under carriage is rock solid. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is just $13,000.

Although popular back in the day, you'll be hard pressed today to find a 1979 Dodge Ramcharger 4X4 like this one from Tulsa, Oklahoma. It has been given a 4-inch suspension lift and big new Cooper Discover tires. It is a full time 4WD vehicle with a 318 Mopar engine and 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. The seller says the paint and carpet are about a year old and that it has new chrome bumpers. It has air but it is not currently functional. He says the 2 1/2-inch exhaust is new with Flowmasters. You'll have to admit it looks like a lot of truck for the asking price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week ... they're only asking $4,200.

They didn't get much respect for a while, but Chevelle's cousins, the El Caminos are starting to pick up in popularity in this developing new collector car market. Here is a 1972 Chevy El Camino from Bel Air, Maryland that is being offered at an attractive price. They say there are less than 4k miles on a built 350 with roller rockers, Edlebrock Performaer intake and cam, 750 Demon carburetor, Dart II heads with Dynomax ceramic coated headers, 2 1/2" Flowmaster 2 chamber exhaust and rebuilt 350 Turbo transmission with 3500 stall speed converter. They say the body was refinished with new sheet metal, a new GM SS hood, quarter panels, fenders and tailgate. You will see it displayed in our DEAL of the DAY feature on the front page of the website next week. The asking price is $13,000.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html

This 1948 Ford Sedan custom hot rod strikes me as being very nicely done. That's based on the photos only ... I've never seen this car. But look at the nice lines and panel fit and finish. You can get a pretty good look at it in the Slide Show ad. This car is all about the Mopar drive train with a 360 ci Chrysler engine bored .030, new comp cam and lifters, 727 automatic transmission and
8 3/4" rear end. But the custom body work done to this car is considerable too. It has been nosed and decked, and given dummy spots, electric doors and trunk, with custom tail lights. No mere starter car, the seller says it has a new Mustang II front end with tubular A arms, 11 inch disc brakes, coil overs, new under-dash air conditioning R134 and a remote air condenser with a fan. Did I mention the tuck and roll interior? It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $27,500.

HEADS UP: Just as we were about to publish this newsletter in the wee hours of the morning, what should appear in our listings but a Monaco orange 1969 Corvette Big Block Coupe which they say is an original 390 hp car. The seller from Stevens Point, Wisconsin says that the engine was transplanted long ago and it currently has a big block 454 power plant. He says he still has the build sheet, and that the interior is still original. He says he has lots of documentation and history on the vehicle. But the important thing is that he has priced it very realistically for a driver class car at just $17,700. Hurry!

HEADS UP: Wow! Another one just in. Look at this orange 1971 Chevrolet 1/2-Ton Pickup from Smyrna, Tennessee. It has the long bed, ready for your bigger loads. From the description I'd assume it is an average No. 3 condition truck. But it looks clean from the photos. They say that the undercarriage looks good, although the seller says there is a small rust spot under the right front fender corner. The seller says you could fly in and drive this truck home. The seller is asking just $6,950.

Among the cars which will not make the DEAL of the DAY feature this week, although it probably should have, is a 1992 Mercury Capri Convertible from Edgerton, Wisconsin for just $3,200; likewise for a 2003 Mustang GT Convertible from Cadiz, Kentucky for $12,000; a 1969 Chevy El Camino with stock drivetrain from Galt, California for $12,500; a great sounding 1963 Chevy Impala SS from Columbus, Ohio for $14,000; and a 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury from Avon, Minnesota for $10,500. If these cars turn out to be No. 3 quality or better they could be interesting buys. Be sure to have them inspected before you buy. Also in our sights is a 2006 Ford Mustang GT with 18,800 miles from Kassabian Motors of Dublin, California. They say they are willing to sell the car for $20,995. Car dealers can't even buy them that cheap at wholesale with those kind of miles.
