If you are a Corvette enthusiast, this edition of the Cars On Line Daily
Update newsletter is for you. There are so many big
block Corvettes being offered this week they seem to dominate
our muscle car listings.
For the second week in a row the SOLD
Feature is showing how heated up this collector car
market is. With the summer car show season well underway, Cars On Line Daily
Update readers are seeing some of the top cars in
the hobby coming out of moth balls and getting spruced up to
sell. You won't believe the great cars available for sale this
week, including a real '64 Shelby Cobra, a Mr. Norm's '71 Hemi
Charger R/T, a real '69 Yenko Camaro with double COPO options,
some famous nostalgia race cars, a great selection of street
rods and customs, and some incredible low-mile muscle cars featured
below.
REAL SHELBY COBRA LISTED
Unbelievable! This is the second
time this month that a real classic Shelby Cobra has been listed
on the Cars On Line website. Nickey Chicago has come up
with this 1964
Shelby Cobra which
was specially ordered by legendary NASCAR team owner and industrialist
Carl Kiekhaefer, former owner of Mercury Marine. It is one of
only two Mink Silver Cobras ever built with a red interior. It
is the # 2271 Cobra built. And it has undergone a concours level
restoration. The car has a Ford 289 small block engine and a
4-speed transmission. Yes, this is the real deal! This is the
car that built the Carroll Shelby legend. This original car is
one of the most replicated collector cars of all time. Nickey
Chicago also posted a dozen or so muscle cars and big block
nostalgia drag cars. See
all of the fresh listings for Nickey Chicago by clicking this
link.
FRESH INVENTORY
Newsletter readers know that
when Mershons World of Cars updates their inventory on
the Cars On Line website it means there will be a fine selection
of Corvettes and muscle cars available. Dan Mershon made his
name in the Central region of the U.S. as a leading Corvette
dealer. From his headquarters in Springfield, Ohio he has built
a national reputation for not only Corvettes, but also desirable
muscle cars. His cars are always high quality, driver class or
better cars, and he sells them at affordable prices. Take this
1960
Corvette Convertible for instance.
It has the very desirable Onyx black finish with silver coves
and a red interior. It is equipped with a 283/270hp engine, proper
dual 4's and a 4-speed transmission. The options on this car
include rare power windows, heater, Wonderbar radio and authentic
Firestone 6.70/15 wide whitewall tires with correct stainless
wheel covers. And there are more like this. Don't miss the 1960
Corvette with the rare and desirable
Cascade green finish with white coves. It has a 283/245 hp engine
with 2X4 carbs. For a quick peak at all
the fresh listings from Mershons World of Cars just click this
link.
LOW MILES SECTION
There are more muscle cars than usual in
the Low
Miles Section this week. The 1971
Dodge Charger R/T (shown above left) from Zanesville, Ohio
is the sleeper of the group. Not only does this car come equipped
with the humongous big block 440 engine and a 6 Pack, but it
also has the hard-to-find Super Track Pack option with Dana 60
rear end. The seller says it comes with a broadcast sheet to
verify the originality of the engine. He says this car has only
26k original miles. Amazing! for a popular muscle car like this!
Don't miss the Slide Show
ad on a 1966
Corvette Coupe (above center) from Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
The seller says it is an all original Milano maroon L79 327/350
hp car with a 4-speed. He says all numbers match except for the
radiator and alternator. He says it runs great and has just 28k
original miles. Mopar collectors will salivate when they hear
that the 1969
1/2 Dodge Super Bee (above right) from Burlington, Massachusetts
is an A-12 lift off hood car. The seller says this very desirable
muscle car has just 48k original miles.
And don't miss the sweet 1967
Corvette Coupe from Suches, Georgia. It is said to be a 327/350
hp car with a 4-speed and just 39k documented miles. There is
also a 1989
Lincoln Town Car from Warren, Michigan which is said to have
only 26k original miles (price is $6,500), and a 1996
Chevrolet Impala SS from Boynton Beach, Florida is listed
as having 11,343 miles. See many more in
today's New
Listings. Or check out all the cars
available in the Low
Miles Section online.
HEADS UP:
A Whiteville, North Carolina hobbyist just listed a 1975 Mercury Comet which they say has only 12k original miles.
They are asking just $7,800.
PROJECT CAR SECTION
In the Project
Car Section today there is an
interesting 1953
Chevrolet Woody Wagon which was posted from Oceano, California.
If you're "jones" is a California Beach Boys fantasy
this one might trip your trigger. It will be
an intense restoration, but, from the description, the seller
seems to indicate that this would be a car worth the effort.
The way restored Woody's are appreciating in value, this would
be the most cost effective way to get involved. The seller does
not give us much in the way of a description. We know that he
says it has 57k miles and he gives us a few photos of the interior.
You may want to ask for more photos. If anyone is close to Oceano,
and wants to go check it out please give us an update on this
car.
Although it will require a full detailed restoration, here
is a great project, a 1955
Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible from Pasco, Washington. The
seller says so far the floor pans have been replaced. You do
the rest. Carson Restorations in Minnesota just posted
this 1969
Pontiac GTO project car. They say it is the perfect restoration
candidate with PHS docs, although it does not have a drivetrain.
Another interesting restoration is this 1966
Dodge Charger from Monrovia, California. They say it was
an original Arizona car with no rust. The seller says there are
only 32k original miles on the body.
Carson Restorations also has a 1960
Chevy El Camino which has been rebuilt already as a custom.
It would take a little work to bring it to a full restoration.
They say it is mostly done.
And there are so many more in today's
New
Listings. Or check the entire field
of projects in the Project
Car Section online.
PRICE CHANGES PAGE
Sometimes you just happen to
be in the right place at the right time. That's you today. A
collector from Atlanta, Georgia has just reduced the price on
his 1970
Buick Gran Sport 455 recreation. This
price is a give away. The PRICE
REDUCED tag says $13,000 !!!
Now I would want to tell you you should have it inspected before
you buy ... but hurry. Even for a recreation, this is a lotta'
car for the money.
This week there are more nice cars with
PRICE REDUCED tags on them than usual. You'll find them all
on the Price
Changes page. Check it daily just as

(For those who may be new to the Cars On Line Update newsletter ... the
page you are reading now is the newsletter page. Linked here
are the most important pages of the newsletter, the New
Listings page and the Price
Changes page. You may want to bookmark these two, because
they are updated in real time as the ads are loaded onto our
website. These links will be good through July 31, 2008. Then
on Friday, August 1, 2008, you'll get a new version of the newsletter

STREET RODS AND HOT RODS ...
 |
What sets this 1937
Ford Cabriolet off is the elegant Mercedes black and silver
paint. From the red ultra leather custom interior to the 350V8
ZZ4 that has been balanced, blueprinted and equipped with a polished
BDS blower and 2 Holley 650 carburetors, this is a "done"
car. |
 |
A rare 1934
Chevy 3-Window Coupe was offered for sale by a private collector
from Waukesha, Wisconsin. They say the undercarriage is as nice
as the exterior on this outlaw body and prostreet chassis. It
has Mustang II front end, narrowed 9 inch ford rear end and Boyd
Coddington wheels. |
|
A 1932
Ford Coupe with the '50s era old school look was listed from
Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The seller says it has the best of everything.
They say it is perfect to show or drive. It has a 350 V8 with
three deuces and a 350 turbo transmission. |
 |
It is pretty unusual to see a Hot Rod Touring
car, but this 1927
Ford Touring listed by Gateway Classic Cars of St.
Louis is very nicely done. It has a metal body, special built
frame, 350 Chevy bored .030 over with Dart Heads, big valves,
roller rockers, high lift cam and two chrome Edelbrock 4-barrel
carburetors. The best part is they're only asking $22,995. |

 |
Plug yer' ears ... this ground pounder is gonna'
blow your socks off. It is a 1971
Chevy Nova SS Pro Street offered for sale by Kumbera Motors.com
of Illinois. It has a 427 big block mill. I take it this guy
thinks he's got a fast car. On the back window it says "Here
Hemi, Hemi, Hemi." |
 |
Old Town Automobile
from Huntingtown, Maryland has just listed this awe inspiring
1969
Camaro Pro Street with the "fast custom paint"
and a 488 big block motor, 250 shot nitrous, 1250 Quick Fuel

LATE MODEL HARLEYS ...
 |
Look for lots of fresh New
Listings in the Harley-Davidson
Section this weekend. We are told there will be several late
models like this 2006
Harley Heritage Softail from Corona, California with only
3,400 miles. This one has the full nostalgia look. Notice the
Harley factory lowering kit, crome forks, beach bars and crome
fishtail pipes. |
CLASSIC SPORT UTILITIES ...
 |
Here is a rare one you won't bump into very often.
In the Sport Utility world there is no more respected vehicle
than this 1969
Land Rover Series IIA. You might imagine them on safari in
Africa rather than going off road here in America. But that's
why its so rare. This restored Land Rover is offered for sale
by Gateway Classic Cars of St. Louis, Missouri. |
 |
A 1963
Willys Utility Wagon from Bohemia, New York looks like it
is in pretty nice condition. They say it has 69,900 original
miles, a 6-cylinder Super Hurricane engine, 3-speed transmission,
4-wheel-drive, and that it runs mint, and is beautifully restored.
See more for sale in the Sport
Utility Vehicle (SUV) Section. |
CLASSIC CORVETTES ...

the coveted Duntov certificate are two of the awards it has received.
It is said to be a nut and bolt frame off restoration. Options
include fuel injection, 4-speed, 2 tops, and more. They say it
is one of the best. |

NOSTALGIA DRAG CARS ...
 |
You may have seen the diecast replica of this
car. This 1962
Ault & James Chevrolet Bel Air 409/409 car was raced
successfully back in the day. The Ault & James Speed Shop
was in Dayton, Ohio and they campaigned many cars during this
era. It is offered for sale by Nickey Chicago. |
 |
Another nostalgia race car offered by Nickey
Chicago is this 1967
Dodge Coronet WO23 factory production race car with a Hemi
racing engine. It is one of only 55 produced. The race hemi had
iron heads, a 12.5:1 compression ratio and a manifold much like
the A-990's. They look like a street Hemi. |

DEAL OF THE DAY
Here in the Cars On Line Daily
Update newsletter readers get
to preview the cars that will be in our DEAL
of the DAY feature for the coming
week. These are the cars that the Cars On Line staff judges to
be the best deals on our website. If you are not a newsletter
reader you'd have to wait till next week to see all these bargains.
However newsletter readers get to preview them here first.
Even though Chevrolet produced almost
as many cars in 1935 as did Ford Motor Company, fewer of the
Chevrolet model cars exist today. That makes this 1935 Chevrolet
5-Window Coupe more rare than its Ford
counterpart. It is said by its seller
to be in all original condition and he says it runs "like
a top, fun to drive." In his opinion there is no rust and
it is in good condition. The ad says there are 55k original miles,
that the body is near perfect, and that the interior is in good
shape. Remember, these cars had the Blue Flame 6 cylinder engine
in those days. You'll notice from the photos that the car has
suicide doors. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY on Saturday. The
asking price has been set at $13,750.
A 1966
Ford Mustang Fastback just posted for
sale from Janesville, Wisconsin. Shortly after the movie "Gone
in 60 Seconds" became a hit, the fastback body got hot. And a regular
Mustang Fastback became the poor man's Shelby. This one is said
to be a nice driver. It's up to you to determine if it is a No.
3 condition car or better. It was just a little over a year ago
when a nice No. 3 condition fastback was worth $26,000 or more.
The seller says this one runs and drives great, and he says it
has the numbers matching engine. It is a 4-speed which is very
desirable, and it has styled steel wheels. It looks good in the
photos, but be sure to inspect the car before you buy it. It
will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of just $17,900.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
Another car which is said to be a quality
driver is a 1973
Dodge Challenger Sport model that has
been listed for sale by a private collector from Mt. Vernon,
Illinois. This could be a diamond in the rough because the seller
says that the 340 engine in this car is supposed to be original.
It has a 4-barrel carburetor and a 4-speed
transmission. He says the car has new seat covers, new headliner,
and says the floor pans are solid. There is rust in the trunk,
and he says it could use a 2nd gear synchro and clutch adjustment.
He says the engine runs great. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY
next week because he's only asking $18,500. Newsletter
readers know that we think these early '70s Mopars are a great
investment and that they have not reached their peak values.
When you can pick them up this cheap there is some room for appreciation.
The value in a custom car has more to do with the way it has
been restored than in the value that the original car would have
had. But when it comes to Tri Five Chevy's they bring their own
value to the equation. These are cars that everybody loves. Here
is a 1955 Chevy
210 from Midland, Texas that is a lot of car for the money
any way you look at it. The 2-Door Sedan has been tubbed, backhalved with
ladder bars and coilovers and has a narrowed Posi rear end with
4.11 gears. The 350 small block is said to have low miles on
it, as does the 700R4 transmission, double hump heads, gear drive
timing, solid cam, roller rockers, aluminum radiator, Mallory
Unilite, MSD box and 750 double pumper. It has Hoosier tires
on 15-inch wheels. And, yes, there is a fuel cell in the trunk.
The seller says the car needs some TLC, as the paint needs to
be redone and the bumpers need to be rechromed, etc. But he says
it has never been raced and is street legal, and tagged in Texas.
It will be our DEAL of the DAY
on the front page of the Cars On Line website next week. This
is a lotta' car for $19,000, don't ya' think?
When you talk about street rods like '32 and '34 Ford coupes,
you kind of divide them into categories such as "starter
cars" and "done cars." It kinda' gives you a way
to put a value on a street rod. "Starter cars" usually
have basic equipment and "done cars"
have the high end equipment. Here is a 1934
Ford 3-Window Coupe from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin that is a
lot of street rod for the price. In fact, this is more of a done
car than a starter car. It has a 3" chopped fiberglass body,
new Heidts independent front suspension, Vintage air conditioning
and heat, Lokar shifter, Walker radiator, VDO gauges, an 8-bolt
Ford rear end, rear leaf by Heidts, seat belts and power windows.
I'd describe this as a "done" car with a "starter
car" price. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY next week with a price of just $30,900.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
A lot of the low priced cars seem to be coming from Wisconsin
this week. Here is a 1950
Ford Custom 2-Dr Sedan from a city called Mukwanago. Custom
is what they called these cars from the factory ... it is actually
more original. They say it is a very solid
Missouri car painted dark metallic blue with grey interior. The
seller says the dash is stock original and very clean. It still
has a stock 239 cubic inch flathead V8 with 3-speed transmission.
They say there are about 67k miles on the engine. The car is
said to be complete with a 6-volt positive ground system and
updated AM/FM radio. Skirts and a Fenton sunvisor go with the
car. This one will be our DEAL of the
DAY with an asking price of just $10,500. Now this
is an affordable way to get into this hobby.
If you are into fine sports cars, here is a 1986
Porsche 911 Carrera that was just listed from San Louis Obispo,
California. What I like about this car is that it was a local
car all its life, and has always been well cared for. That means a lot. The lowered stance
and wide wheels make the car look better than its stock appearance.
It has a 6 cylinder, 3.2 liter motor with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The seller says it has always been cared for by the same mechanic
who loves the car. The seller has detailed history on its maintenance.
Updates include a lowered stance, shift kit and a performance
chip. You may find this car to be a very interesting offering.
The asking price is $15,500.
Top Notch Vehicles out of Jefferson, Wisconsin has
listed a muscle car which you have to consider. Here is a 1968
Mercury Cyclone with the a big block engine and an automatic transmission.
They say there are only 47,807 miles showing. It has a 390 ci
V8, 2-barrel carburetor, automatic, B+M ratchet shifter (although
it was originally a column shift), bucket seats, new carpeting
and black metallic paint. It has dual pipes out the back, hood
scoop up front, and the directional indicators in the scoop actually
work, according to the ad copy. Don't fail to check this one
out, because the asking price is only $12,995.
Here are some of the cars that just missed making the DEAL of the DAY feature this week.
Although you will not see them in the DEAL
of the DAY feature on our front page, they are still
very significant cars at a discount to current market prices.
Remember, you saw them first ... right here in the newsletter.

SOLD THRU CARS ON LINE
Here are some of the comments from happy sellers who were
nice enough to tell us about their experience advertising on
the Cars On Line website.
JUST WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP!
"Just when I was going
to give up, you came thru!" said a collector from Old Saybrook,
Connecticut when he SOLD his 1923
Ford T-Bucket through a Cars On Line
photo ad.
"I have sold all of my antique
vehicles on your site, and could not have done that without all
your help. I am sincerely grateful. You are the best. Thank you
Cars On Line!" said a collector from Taylorsville, North
Carolina when she SOLD her 1959
Oldsmobile 98 Convertible through a
Cars On Line photo ad.
A collector from Helena, Arkansas SOLD
his 1986
Chevy Silverado. "Number 30, thanks
again." What he is refering to is the number of cars he
has SOLD through Cars On Line photo ads so far for 2008.
I believe this is his best year ever. Not bad for a retired hobbyist.
A collector from Harpers Ferry, West
Virginia SOLD his 1964
Chevy Impala SS. "I am very pleased,
we even got our asking price."
A collector from Phoenix, Arizona SOLD
his 1972
Chevy Malibu. "Very good service.
Will use again."
