For the fourth week in a row we have
had outstanding sales through the Cars On Line website. Not only
are the privately advertised cars selling, but the feedback from
classic car dealers continues to be positive. A California broker
told me they were marking numerous ads SOLD this week.
And an Illinois classic car broker said sales have been good
all during February. See the SOLD
Feature at the bottom of this
page. Classic cars are at very good values right now. That, we
believe, is what is driving sales. If you remember the stock
market meltdown at the end of the 1980s, investors leveraged
the collector car market to new highs. Values are very attractive
right now and collectors are definitely looking to buy. This
is shaping up much like the uptick in market sales we saw in
the late 1980's.
GREAT VIDEO AD ...
Did you see the video ad on
a black 1970
Dodge Challenger R/T from Atlanta,
Georgia? This posting is said
to be an original #s matching 440 big block car with a 4-speed
and came with the A33 Track Pack option. It is both highly optioned
and fully documented. Get this! It comes with two (2) broadcast
sheets, original window sticker, original dealer order sheet
and the original purchase contract. The best part of this ad
though is the video. Click
here to view the video provided on the 1970 Challenger R/T. You can actually feel the power of this monster
Mopar.
DEALER SALES ...
Our hats are off to Flemings
Ultimate Garage of Rockville, Maryland. Man, nobody sells
cars like these guys. They marked 35 cars SOLD during
the month of February. That is amazing. This is why we always
tell people that they are the fastest growing specialty car dealer
on the East Coast. Click
here to view a link to the inventory at Flemings Ultimate Garage and see all the cars they SOLD in February.
What is the secret of their success? They'll tell you it is those
video ads they run in their advertising and that you see on the
Cars On Line Car Tube Videos (see
front page to view their ads.)
LOW MILES CARS
A 1979
Chrysler 300 from Shelb County, Nova
Scotia in Canada
has been listed for sale. The owner says it has just 295 original
miles. They consider the car as new. It spent 27 years in the
Walter P. Chrysler Museum, then 2 years in a museum in Winnipeg,
Canada. They say it was never titled until now. Also see
a 1991
Mustang GT Convertible posted by Fastlane Classic Cars
of St. Charles, Missouri. They say it has just 6,366 actual miles.
This is a great collector car. And you'll find hundreds more
amazing low-mile treasures in our Low
Miles Section online.
PROJECT CARS
The most interesting car for
sale in the Project
Car Section this week is a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda
E body from Rockford, Illinois.
They started the restoration intending this car as a resto mod,
probably with a Hemi engine in mind. The seller says it needs
paint and assembly. It has a new Tremec 5-speed with hydraulic
clutch, new Strange S-60 rearend with Wilwood discs, new TTI
3" Hemi exhaust system with 2 1/4" Stage 5 Hemi headers
and new Magnumforce tubular K-member with Hemi mounts. They say
there is a lot of money invested. See a detailed SLIDE SHOW of this car online.

DEAL OF THE DAY
Here in the Cars On Line Daily
Update newsletter readers get
to preview the cars that will be in our DEAL
of the DAY feature for the coming
week. These are the cars that the Cars On Line staff judges to
be the best deals on our website. The average buyer has to wait
till next week to see all these bargains when they appear on
our home page. But newsletter readers get to preview them here
first.
Ask any collector and they'll tell you that the cars that
appreciate the fastest and hold their value are Corvettes. This
week a 1969
Corvette Convertible was posted from Olathe, Kansas
at a very affordable price. The seller says this one is not numbers
matching and comes with incorrect parts (like the 427 hood.)
What's more, the seller makes sure to let you know that this
is a driver class car, not a show car. The 350 engine was rebuilt
with about 10k miles, he says. It does have the original black
leather interior and he says the convertible top is in good condition.
It is a 4-speed car. The air does not work. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because
it would be hard to find another at this price ... just $22,900.
A 1951 Plymouth
Belvedere Cranbrook mild custom was recently posted for sale
by a Texas collector. The rare Cranbrook
2-Door Hardtop is not easy to find. It was restored in the mid
90's. Custom features include: Fatman Mustang II, 350 crate engine,
700R4, 10-bolt rear, Griffin radiator, Edlebrock intake and carb,
HEI, new Painless wiring, Dynamat and Coker wide whites. With
all the updates it still looks very original. It will be our
DEAL of the DAY on Sunday
... they are asking $15,000.
Grab the phone. You're gonna' need to hurry to get a shot
at this one. A 1970
Pontiac GTO was listed from Star, Idaho. The seller
says he is the second owner and has done much work to keep it
original. He says it is an all original numbers matching GTO
with one repaint in the original color. He also says in the ad
that the car has no rust. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY next week because the asking price is only
$19,000. Hurry!! and I mean H-u-r-r-r-r-r-y!!
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
A collector from Crestwood, Kentucky has offered a sweet little
1967 Chevy Nova
with a lot of power. He notes it is not an SS and
it currently has a built 350 V8, Turbo 350 automatic transmission,
10-bolt posi rear end and power disc brakes. Although he says
it has manual steering, it comes with bucket seats and a console,
cowl hood, Rally wheels and Flowmaster dual exhaust. He says
it sounds great and is a strong runner. The paint is custom,
Dupont Hot Hues. He says the bumpers, chrome and interior are
excellent. It will be our DEAL of the
DAY next week with an asking price of $18,500.
I've been looking for a nice one of these for 20 years. And
this one looks very interesting. It is a 1977
Pontiac Can Am just listed for sale from Ringoes, New Jersey.
This is a one-year-only
special edition car to honor the Can Am Series of racing. I've
never actually seen one with the red and white interior, personally.
Somebody email me if this could be original. With these cars
you always want to check for rust and see if they are dry under
the carpet. Also check the hood and scoop where they rust around
the air induction. If this car is real, it is very nicely priced
and a great find. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY because the asking price is $13,995.
Mercury Comet Caliente Convertibles are hard to find and very
desirable. But because they are Mercurys they are still undervalued by collectors.
Expect that to change. Here is a 1965
Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible from Des Moines, Iowa.
It could be worth checking out. The price is way low if it is
as good as it looks in the photos. The seller says it is 96 percent
rust free. It has a 289 V8 and automatic transmission. He says
it has good tires, brakes and exhaust. He says the carb was just
rebuilt last summer but that it hasn't been driven much lately.
It is interesting enough to be our DEAL
of the DAY since they are only asking $10,000.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service page at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
For whatever reason, classic Oldsmobiles from the '50s and '60s
are hot right now on the internet. Here is a 1962
Oldsmobile Rocket 88 2-Dr Hardtop just posted from Auburn,
California. Going by the description
you might have to move fast on this one. They say this is a rotisserie
restoration and that it is beautifully detailed throughout. The
description claims it has an excellent body, paint and interior.
The car has a 394 ci V8, automatic transmission, power steering
and power brakes. The wide whitewall tires are complemented by
spinner hubcaps. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY with a price that will make you take notice
... just $9,950.
