The big event we will be watching this week
is a live online auction that we are involved with in San Antonio,
Texas tomorrow. You'll be able to view the ICA Auction online
if you are registered to bid. See more on this below.
What you don't want to miss in today's Cars On Line Daily Update newsletter
is the DEAL of the
DAY feature below. We have so many
great cars to show you that we may have to run two deals for
every day next week.
CALLAWAY SUPER CAR
Don't get this Callaway mad!
Road & Track said the 2009 Callaway Corvette is a
"...highly individualized, sharp handling, meticulously
outfitted supercar, one that tops out at a claimed 200 mph in
anger, but will still return 28 mpg when driven gently."
The London
Times wrote of the Callaway Corvette, "The straight
line performance goes from quick to warp ..." and called
its LeMans brake system "neck snapping." Yes, this
2009
Callaway Corvette Convertible is deemed
to be a world class supercar by the automotive press. That's
why the seller from Archbald, Pennsylvania put together a multi-photo
SLIDE SHOW
ad on this incredible supercharged 580 horsepower phenom. It's
one SLIDE SHOW ad you don't want to miss.
Among the things that make it a Callaway
are: the Callaway short-throw shifter, Callaway/Eibach Multi-Pro
suspension system, Callaway Lemans 6-piston brake package, Callaway/Dymag
C-Mg wheel and tire package, Callaway supercharger, Honker high-flow
intake system, Callaway C-16 hood with emblems, Callaway Double-D
exhaust, and so much more. This one has the 3LT package, and
the seller says only 1k miles. You'll see more incredible late
models in the Corvette
Section online. For
a brochure on the 2009 Callaway Corvette click this link to a
.pdf file. (In order to view the brochure you will have to
have Adobe Acrobat reader installed on your computer.)
CELEBRITY CARS
When you visit our Celebrity Car
Section you never know what new treasures
you may find. For the discrete collector there is a 1936
Pierce Arrow Model 1602 Sedan now featured
there which once
belonged to Harold Lloyd, the famous silent movie star. The Model
1602 is a four-door limo sized vehicle with 144-inch wheelbase
and the big V-12 engine. This car has a 3-speed transmission
which they describe as "free wheeling" and features
overdrive. They say only 135 of these were made in 1936. The
color is Midnight blue with a grey interior. You will find a
few more Pierce Arrow cars listed under "Other" which we sometimes call our Independents
Section. That is where you'll find
"orphan cars."
Another
top car available in our Celebrity
Car Section this week is a 1986
Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible which
was purchased new by Hollywood movie star and celebrity, Dean
Martin. This particular car is listed by The Auto Collections
in Las Vegas. Martin loved this car and still owned it when he
passed away in 1995. They say it still has only 19k original
miles.
LOW MILES CARS
Northwest Auto Sales in N. Canton, Ohio is well known
as a top classic Corvette dealer. This week they have listed
an Elkhart blue 1967
Corvette Big Block Coupe (shown above left) with the 427/390
hp motor and a rare teal top and teal interior. They say it has
only 33k actual miles. An ultra rare 1941
Dodge Luxury Liner (above center) has been listed by an Austin,
Minnesota owner. He says it is all original and has just 22,500
miles. This particular seller is well known for having very low
mile originals. And the ad for a 1973
Mach 1 Mustang (above right) from Streetside Classics
in North Carolina says it comes with only 21,809 documented miles
and still has its original paint. They say it looks like it just
rolled off the showroom floor.
And there are so many more for sale today in the New
Listings, including these: You'll find hundreds more amazing, pampered treasures
in our Low
Miles Section which is devoted solely to collector cars that
have had loving care and light use.
PROJECT CARS
The Project
Car Section continues to be one of the most popular categories
on the Cars On Line website. That is a sign that there are still
significant numbers of hobbyists who want to restore cars. With
cars being listed like the popular 1951
Studebaker Starlite Coupe (shown above center) you can see
why. '50s Studebakers are the most sought after cars in the classic
car category. This one from Raleigh, Mississippi is said to have
never been restored and still runs. A 1957
Chevrolet 2-Dr Hardtop (above left) has been listed by Joy
Motorsports in Benton, Kansas. They sort of specialize in
restoration projects. They say this car is a good restoration
candidate. And a 1969
Camaro X-44 code (shown above right) from Burleson, Texas
is said to be set up for a big block. The seller says he has
a 427 already rebuilt to go with for $16,000.

The Chicago area has a lot of original '50s convertibles.

The fins and dual taillights on a 1957

MUSCLE CAR CLONES
In the muscle car wars, more buyers are looking for clones, just
because the price on clones has become much more reasonable since
markets have undergone a correction. The 1969
Camaro RS Z/28 (shown above left) resto mod recreation which
was just listed by Southern Motors in Clarkston, Michigan is
one of those cars that you can have a blast with. It has a built
496 ci stroker motor, Hooker Super Comp big tube ceramic headers,
big block radiator and front disc brakes. A 1970
Pontiac Firebird (above center) was listed from Sun Valley,
Nevada that is said to be a clone of a Formula 400. The seller
says he has a rebuilt 400 engine and it is a blast to drive.
See the interesting SLIDE SHOW
ad. And a 1970
Plymouth Cuda Convertible is offered by a private seller
from Vero Beach, Florida. It is a Hemi clone which the seller
describes as "near perfect." He says it spent three
years in a rotisserie restoration. Also see:

DEAL OF THE DAY
A rare event has happened here
at the Cars On Line office. So many bargain priced collector
cars were listed here this week that we have to do something
we have rarely ever done in the past. During the next week we
will have to feature two deals each day just to cover all the
discount priced cars that came in. Newsletter readers know that
we feature the best bargains on our website right here in the
DEAL of the DAY preview. In this section of our newsletter
we give readers first chance at the bargain priced quality cars
on our website. Then during the coming week readers will see
these cars on our home page in the DEAL
of the DAY graphic that looks
like a "rear view mirror." Usually we featured one
outstanding "deal" each day. But this coming week we
will be featuring two cars each day in the DEAL
of the DAY. Here's why:
Saturday morning we'll have a 1967
Chevelle SS 396 on our front page in the DEAL
of the DAY rear view mirror.
The seller from Kosciusko, Mississippi tells us that it is a
real 138
Super Sport with the desirable 350 horsepower 396 ci big block
engine. He says it has had the same owner for the past 30 years,
and that it comes with a Protecto plate , 4-speed transmission,
factory air conditioning, tilt wheel, power steering, 12-bolt
rear end, buckets, console, gauges and seat belts. From the photo
you can see that it is Marina blue with a black interior and
black top. He says the paint is four years old. It will
be our DEAL of the DAY on
because the price is only $29,000.
Then later in the day you'll also see a 1970
Chevrolet Monte Carlo featured in the DEAL
of the DAY mirror from Antioch, Illinois. The asking
price is $12,500.
A collector from Austin, Minnesota has placed an ad for a
1949 Willys
1/2-Ton 4X4 Pickup truck. Almost anything with the Willys
name on it is very desirable in the collector
car market. The seller says it is restored, and has a 6 cylinder
motor. From 1947 till 1965, Willys-Overland produced a four-wheel
drive pickup truck. They shared the look and the frame of the
early Jeep Wagons. Willys-Overland Co was merged under the Kaiser
Industries corporation in 1963. This historic truck will be our
DEAL of the DAY on Sunday
morning. The asking price is $12,500.
Late Sunday afternoon we will change the DEAL of the DAY mirror
graphic to show a 1969
Ford Galaxie Convertible from Collierville, Tennessee. The
asking price on this custom lowered convertible will be $8,900.
Although Buick's muscle car days were
already behind them, in 1974 they were still producing the last
of their big block muscle cars. A Minnesota collector posted
this 1974 Buick Gran
Sport 455 for sale. We have to assume
from the price that this is a driver quality car. But the seller
says that this car is documented by the Sloan Museum to be one
of the 438 GS 455's produced in '74. And they say it has only
42,000 original miles. Only seven such cars were produced with
the Luxus interior. Although you should have it inspected to
make sure it is right for you, you might want to move fast on
this one. It will make it our DEAL
of the DAY on Monday ... because
the asking price is only $9,000!! Hurry!!
Sharing the DEAL
of the DAY spotlight on Monday
will be a 1966
Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible which
the Peachtree City, Georgia seller says is all original and numbers
matching. That alone should motiviate you. These convertibles
are hard to come by. But the selling price is $15,500. That's
quite a find.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
If you are looking for a hot muscle car clone that will blow
your friends away, here is a 1968
Dodge Hemi Dart GT from Fairborn, Ohio. The seller says he
started this project out
with a rust-free California car. You can see the fiberglass hemi
hood, and he had the rear wheel openings professionally enlarged
with a factory LO23 template. Extensive work has been done to
the suspension and chassis. However it still has the original
273 V8. Unfortunately he says he ran out of money. This is your
opportunity to finish a high dollar potential recreation. It
will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $15,000. A
great opportunity.
Similarly a private seller from West
Middlesex, Pennsylvania has listed a 1973
Dodge Dart Swinger. He says it was
a California car now has a '69 340 engine and rebuilt 727 automatic
transmission with Hemi quality parts. The asking price is $14,000.
A nicely preserved relic of the workaday
world back in the day is represented by this 1966
GMC Suburban Carryall which was just
posted for sale from Martinez, California. The
seller indicates that it was restored in 2001 and it really looks
good in the photos. The description says there are 10,300 miles
on it since the restoration work. It has a GM crate 454 HO motor
and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. He says it was completely
re-wired and has VDO gauges, power disc brakes, new suspension,
Posi traction 12-bolt rear end and new rear tires with all new
Mickey Thompson Classic wheels. He says the original seats were
reupholstered. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next
week with an asking price of $15,500. This is a lotta' truck
for the money.
Later that day we will be featuring
a 1963
Chevy II Nova SS in the DEAL of the DAY
from Bedford, Virginia. One of our regular advertisers who is
a real Chevrolet expert is offering
this car for sale. He says it is a real SS with factory gauges,
350 engine, 700R transmission, Heidts front end, front disc brakes
and air conditioning. He describes it as a very straight car
with solid floor and trunk pan. He says it has power steering,
power brakes and aluminum radiator, and tells us that it runs
and drives great. You should check it out for yourself. But hurry.
It will be our DEAL of the DAY
next week with an asking price
of $12,800. For those you who ask "where are all the Chevy
Novas for under $20,000" here is your answer.
I don't know when I have seen so many
affordably priced Mopars. Here is another one that probably fits
in the "future collectible" category. A 1974 Plymouth Road
Runner has been
listed out of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. This is one of those
cars that we will tell you "you have to hurry on this one."
The seller says it has the High Performance 360 engine with 4-barrel
Holley carburetor, 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission, dual
exhaust and an 8 3/4 rear end with Sure Grip and 3.55 gears.
The springs were cut to give it that "cool" stance.
It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is only
$7,500. This one might not last the weekend.
That same day you'll also see a 1981
Chevrolet Malibu Classic Pro Touring
custom station wagon featured in the DEAL
of the DAY. The custom ride
from Show Low, Arizona will sell quickly because the asking price
is only $5,000. Hurry!
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. Click here to link to the Cars
On Line Inspection Service page.
Yet another great Mopar offering ...
a 1970
Plymouth Duster would appear to be
for sale at a great discount to prices we would expect for such
cars. It is from Fort Lauderdale,
Florida and now has a big block 383 where the small block 340
used to reside. They advertise it as if it could be a daily driver.
The new parts include: a front end, shocks, tires and steering
gear. The car has been mini-tubbed and it uses 3.55 gears. If
this is your daily driver you're gonna turn some heads. You have
to admit it takes a good picture. But the best part is the price.
It will be our DEAL of the DAY
because the seller is asking
only $10,500.
Then later in the day you'll see this
1964
Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible in the
DEAL of the DAY mirror. The seller is from Fruita, Colorado.
He is only asking $11,500. Just look at the pictures. This is
a lotta' car.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be DEAL
of the DAY than we can put on our front page feature.
Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY. Remember, you saw
them here first:
CARS FOR
$10,000-AND-UNDER
You'll be blown away by these values,
all $10,000 and Under. Some
of these cars are outstanding, really nice cars, not junk, and
yet they are priced at what we would consider "pocket change."
