You can tell spring is just around the corner because some of the "good stuff" is starting to come out. One item of note: see the $10,000-AND-UNDER feature below for some very sharp cars that you would not normally see for under $10 grand.

RARE PACE CAR SPECIAL EDITION
A very rare 1970 Mustang 428CJ Convertible is said to be one of just five special edition 428 CJ convertibles which were outfitted to be Pace Cars for American Raceway, Inc (ARI) at their tracks that year. This one was assigned to Atlantic International Raceway. They say these cars are even more rare and desirable than the famous Twister Mustang special editions for 1970. It has a 428 CJ, drag pack option, air conditioning and lots of modifications done by Ford; it has been in magazines and a calendar car. They say it is a true MCA Thoroughbred car with tons of documentation, and that the car comes with all NOS and original parts.

ARI ordered the cars for use at 5 racetracks around the US. The five convertibles were intended to pace actual races and were geared to about 155 mph. Kevin Marti did some research to find out that the pace car convertibles have VIN's from 120300-120304. Twister Mustangs were Mach 1 fastbacks produced before these five ARI Mustangs were numbered.

WELCOME A NEW DEALER
If you are wondering where all the fresh Chevy Novas and Chevelles are coming from we should introduce you to Browns Performance, a new classic car dealer from Glen Burnie, Maryland. They sell the kind of cars you want to drive. They have a number of very nicely detailed and sharp Novas, like this 1966 Chevy Nova II SS with a 427 big block engine. Many of the listings from Browns Performance are like this car. They are upgraded high performance vehicles with high horsepower engines and performance tuned suspensions and drivetrains. Typically their cars are very sharp. The best part, though, is their prices. Think of it! A big block Nova SS for just $26,500! What could be better than that? Here is a link to their entire inventory of high performance vehicles. See for yourself.

FORD '32 DEUCE ROADSTER
In 2006, Ford celebrated the anniversary of the benchmark 1932 Ford, one of the most popular cars ever to be produced in the U.S. The '32 was a one-year only model designed by Edsel Ford senior, Henry Ford's son. It will be remembered forever as the first Ford to have the Flathead V8. Because of that, the original "highboy" has become the icon of the street rod hobby. To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the '32 Ford, a special 1932 Ford Deuce Roadster commemorative edition was built for Ford Motor Co by Detroit Street Rods and has become known as the Dearborn Deuce. The first Dearborn Deuce was given to Edsel Ford II, and was sold at the Barrett-Jackson Auction for $330,000 to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

This week a very special '32 Dearborn Deuce Roadster was listed for sale by Valenti Classics in Caledonia, Wisconsin. The features and the fit and finish on this car will amaze you. What is significant is that Detroit Street Rods made these cars using all steel panels. This is a one owner car with "57" miles on the odometer. Production of the Edsel Signature Deuce was limited to 10 cars. This one is #5 of the 10. There is a dash mounted 75th anniversary plaque with VIN # 75 32 005 and is individually signed by Edsel B. Only the 10 Edsel edition cars were offered in the exclusive two-tone paint combination. The cars were painted at the Saleen plant in Troy, Michigan.

701 actual miles

1962 Austin-Healey 3000
Spectacular, 35k actual mi

2004 Mach 1 Mustang
never sold, 1,100 miles

In 2002 the colored graphics on this Camaro SS 35th Anniversary Edition (shown above left) were the hot ticket. Since it was the last year Camaro was to be made (until 2010) this was immediately considered a collector item. This one was tucked away for posterity. Now for sale, Chicago Classics says it still has just 701 actual miles. The 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 Mark II big six cylinder car (shown above center) is said to have 35k actual miles. Dan Schmitt & Co says it is a spectacular restoration. And the story on the 2004 Mach 1 Mustang special edition (shown above right) is that it was never sold, is still on MSO and was never even dealer prepped. The Athens, Georgia seller says it has only 1,100 miles.

And there are so many more for sale today in the New Listings, including these:

'56 Chevy Panel Delivery

Here is a great Deuce roadster (above left) which you can see is mostly complete except for the drivetrain. It has a fiberglass body and custom chassis with all of the following already installed: doors hung with bear claw latches, trunk hung, hood and brackets, grille shell, stainless steel insert, and much more. The car is in San Antonio, Texas. It's the same story with the 1955 Chevy Drag Car (shown above center) from Mt. Vernon, Illinois. The seller says it has a glass front end, doors and deck lid, all tublar a-arms, rack and pinion, Wilwood spindles, 4-wheel Wilwood disk brakes, box front clip, rear half car with ladder bars and coilovers, and much more. The 1956 Chevy Panel Delivery (above right) posted by Top Notch Vehicles has the patina of an old school custom, but they say it is a very nice driver for $10,995.

PRICE REDUCED
Newletter readers will remember when this 2008 Yes Turbo Roadster was featured in this newsletter earlier last fall with an exciting video ad. This is Barrett-Jackson type stuff. It is the only one made. It is sold with a bill of sale only because it entered this country as a race car. But they say this one has not been raced (see the videos embedded in the ad.) The car weight just 1500 lbs and the 1.8 litre Audi motor is said to produce 290 horsepower. It is equipped with an Audi transmission and Brembo brakes. The plan was for these cars to be brought over for street and track use at a price of $120-$150,000. But the economy changed all that. Now the seller has reduced the price to $59,000.

Here are more great deals with PRICE REDUCED tags:

A 1966 Chevy II Pro Street was listed from Versailles, Kentucky. The seller says it has never been raced and describes it as a fresh car. He says it has a 408 ci 400+ hp engine w/ less then 1k miles, Lunati 540 lift cam, roller rockers, poly locks, 625 cfm Edelbrock carburetor, Holley electric fuel pump, Mr. Cool aluminum radiator, Flowmaster mufflers w/ "H" pipe, 2500 stall TQ converter, built 350 turbo transmission w/ shift kit, Hooker Comp header, Dart Iron Eagle heads, 9-qt. Milodon deep oil pan, and so much more, including a Harwood fuel cell. This seems to be an awful lotta' car for the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $12,000.

There have always been a lot of Ford enthusiasts in the Southeastern part of the country. They will really appreciate the photos of a sweet little 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 listed out of Davidsonville, Maryland at a very nice price. The seller says it has just 76k original miles and all original sheet metal. It has an '88 Mustang 302, 4V, DEI distributor and aluminum radiator and TCI 3-speed automatic transmission w/shift kit. He says it has new floor pans, carpet, CD player, wind lace, leaf springs and an electric fuel pump. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $11,500.

A
1931 Ford 2-Dr Sedan has been listed on our Street Rod Section today. It is from San Antionio, Texas and the price was so pretty nice for a car this sharp. The ad says it is an all steel car, which makes it very desirable to street rodders. It is priced like a starter car, but this is no starter car. It is nicely equipped with a 350 small block, tunnel ram with 2-4 barrel carbs, power glide transmission and a Corvette rear end. The seller says it has a good body and runs well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is only $19,500.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. Click here to link to the Cars On Line Inspection Service page.
