And so this is Christmas ... a time to
remember why this day is so celebrated. We hope the day finds
you surrounded by your greatest wealth ... your family, your
friends, people who live in the spirit. The staff here at the
Cars On Line office wants to wish you the happiest of holidays.
May this Christmas day find you wrapped in the warmth of the
season. We hope you will enjoy good food, great company and have
a chance to just have some good old fashioned fun. Hearts this
full will never grow old ... Peace to all ... every one.
Our staff is trying to squeeze in
that last minute shopping and preparations so we can have some
time off with our families. But we know how much this newsletter
means to our readers. There will be a whole lotta' people with
extra time on their hands this weekend and most of them will
be on the Internet. So here is the New
Listings page. Don't forget to check
it during the weekend as it gets updated several times a day.You
can bet some wild action will transfer into next week. This is
the week we see some of those high priced cars disappear from
our website as the tax year ends.
Just in time for Christmas we have our
best selection of Exotic Dream Cars ... the most Ferraris we've
seen listed all year, thanks to two of the Specialty Sales
dealerships in Pleasanton and San Marcos, California. See them
featured below. There is also an incredible selection of Vintage
American Motorcars, thanks to a new classic car dealership, Connors
Motorcar Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania. More on Connors'
investment quality classics below.
It has been the most tumultuous year
we've ever seen for the collector car market. And this is the
issue where we bring you our 2009 Years-End Market Update. So
pour a warm drink, get comfortable and prepare for the best read
of the year.
COLLECTOR CAR PRICES UP
19 PERCENT
There is much better news to
report about the state of the collector car market this year.
For those of you who remember, it was no fun having to report
on the classic car market last year at this time. But things
started getting better during the summer months in 2009. Comparing
today's prices to last years numbers we can see that values are
up 19 percent since December 2008. Given that we are coming out
of a recessionary economy those numbers are inspiring. By reading
our analysis of price trends since January 2009, you can see
that collector car values are on an uptick. Click
here for a full report on collector car pricing using our sample
group of cars to measure the value of today's market.
From our report you will notice that classic '50s car prices
are inching upward. We expect Rock N Roll '50s cars to lead the
recovery in the collector car market. You can bet that classic
'50s cars and pro touring customs will be the hot cars at the
Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction next month in Scottsdale,
Arizona.
1970 PLYMOUTH HEMI
SUPERBIRD
Happy Days Dream Cars in Warrenburg, Missouri has announced that
they have consigned their 1970
Plymouth Hemi Superbird to the Barrett-Jackson
Auction next month in Scottsdale, Arizona. The sale will be viewable
by all on SPEED TV on January 23 when SPEED will televise the
entire days activities. Saturday is the "prime time"
day to
have your car go through the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale.
That is when all the big money cars pass over the auction block
and all the top collectors in the world are there to bid on them.
It will be interesting to see what this car will draw in the
big sale. The last time we watched a Hemi powered winged car
cross the auction block it was at a Mecum Auction several years
ago and the car drew over $700,000. Of course, that was when
the market on Mopars was still at its peak. Dealers have been
very upbeat recently about auction prices. One dealer who went
to the Zephyrhills Auction in November told us he sold thirty
cars there. So there is much anticipation that prices will start
to trend upward with the Barrett-Jackson this January. Check
the Cars On Line Car Show Calendar for events and dates on all the top car shows
in the U.S. and Canada.
THE BEST OF CARS ON LINE
Just a reminder that next week
the Cars On Line Daily Update
newsletter will be published on Thursday again, during the week
of New Years. In that last edition of the newsletter for 2009,
we will be publishing the Cars On Line Year End Review,
including The Best of Cars On
Line for 2009.
We'll feature some of the best cars sold through Cars On Line
this past year. This is one of the most popular features we do
all year. You won't want to miss it ... a great read for the
holidays.
WELCOME A NEW DEALER
Just in time for Christmas,
a new dealer has joined the Cars
On Line Dealer
Network. We'd like newsletter
readers to welcome Connors Motorcar Company from West
Chester, Pennsylvania. By joining us at this time they've made
our Christmas listings
very special. In their inventory you will find some true investor
quality vintage motorcars. Even when the muscle car market crashed
last year, the old antique motorcars maintained their values.
Connors is offering a truly rare 1929
Stutz Model M Dual Cowl Phaeton. It
is the crown jewel of their current collection. They describe
it as being "breathtaking" with its beautiful red body,
burgundy fenders and excellent original black leather interior
and tan canvas top. Stretched to 134 1/2" wheelbase, this
dual cowl car was designed to be a toy of the wealthy classes
prior to the Great Depression. This one has chrome wire wheels,
dual side mounts, a 300 cubic inch overhead cam straight Eight
producing 115 horsepower. They say it has only 42,000 miles.
Connors
also has a rare Packard and a few vintage Cadillac limousines
in their inventory. Click
here to view their entire inventory on the Cars On Line website.
Newsletter readers should watch our
New
Listings page daily over the holidays.
We expect a new classic car dealer from Illinois will be listing
quite a few driver quality classics. The prices will be attractive.
INSPECTION ON A HEMI
CHALLENGER
For those of you who had ordered
inspections during the past month when we were having some transitional
problems with our inspection system, we should be back to full
service by the time you are reading this newsletter. Because
of the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona next month
we expect that many newsletter readers will be wanting to purchase
cars to take to the big show. Many of our listings will be disappearing
with the impending auction coming up.
To remind you why it is important to
have a car inspected before you buy, here is an inspection report
we recently completed on a 1970
Dodge Hemi Challenger Convertible in
Georgia. Evidently the person who ordered the inspection was
aware that the car had been jury rigged together when it was
first restored. The shop where it was being stored had gone through
it and the potential buyer wanted us to sort it out for him.
Had the problems been corrected? That is what the buyer wanted
us to find out. Read the report. Did the buyer purchase the car
or pass on it? What do you think?
LOW MILES CARS
Even by our standards these are some pretty incredible
and pampered low miles cars. You can imagine how a 1922
Cadillac Type 61 Suburban 7-Passenger motorcar (pictured
above left) might have very low miles. It was probably owned
by a wealthy family and only chauffeur driven. Connors Motorcar
Company (mentioned above) has it for sale and they tell us
it has only 2,700 miles. This 1995
Ferrari 456 GT (shown above right) came to Specialty Sales,
a classic and exotic car specialty dealership in San Carlos,
California as part of an estate sale and is currently offered
at an unbelievable low price! The paint is called Blue Sera Metallic
with a tan interior. They say this V12 Ferrari has just 7,714
miles on the engine which is a replacement motor. The car itself
has even fewer miles on it they say. You'll find hundreds more
amazing, pampered treasures in our Low
Miles Section which is devoted solely to collector cars that
have had loving care and light use.
PROJECT CARS
The Project
Car Section is now the fourth most popular page on our website.
Out of more than 200 categories of cars listed for sale on the
Cars On Line.com website, the Project
Car Section ranks No. 4 behind the Camaro
Section, Plymouth
Section and Dodge
Section. One of the reasons this section is so popular is
because we keep getting listings like the 1956
Chevy 210 Wagon (shown above left) from Decatur, Alabama.
You can see much of the hard work has been done and it is said
to be a 1-owner car and has #s matching. A 1947
Diamond T Truck (above center) was listed from Langdon, North
Dakota and is described as a grain box dump truck. They say it
has only 33k original miles and that it has always been stored
inside. And a 1970
Pontiac GTO (above right) from Arlington, Texas is being
offered for sale in the Project
Car Section. The seller says all the hard work has been done.
And there's more: In looking for a project car to
restore, make sure you watch our New
Listings page for daily updates. Or
you can find hundreds of project cars for sale now in the Cars
On Line Project
Car Section online.
PRICE CHANGES PAGE
If you want to spare yourself
the effort to be the high bidder at the Barrett-Jackson Auction
this year on a Hemi Superbird mentioned above, here is another
1970
Plymouth Hemi
Superbird which had been listed last
month. This Hemi Orange Superbird is said to have the
original 426 Hemi engine and Hemi Pisto Grip 4-speed with all
numbers matching drivetrain and documentation. The original asking
price on this Hemi Superbird when listed was $365,000. Now just
in time to beat the pants off any Barrett-Jackson price the seller
has lowered the asking price to $325,000, about half of what
the white one above is expected to draw at the B-J next month.
Also see a 1953
Chevy Panel Delivery for sale from Oklahma City, Oklahoma.
The original asking price when it was listed in November was
$34,900. The seller just put a PRICE
REDUCED tag on it with an asking price of $24,900.
If you don't check the Price
Changes page today you will miss great
deals like the ones listed here.
(For those who may be new to the Cars On Line Update newsletter ... the
page you are reading now is the newsletter page. Linked here
are the most important pages of the newsletter, the New
Listings page and the Price
Changes page. You may want to bookmark these two, because
they are updated in real time as the ads are loaded onto our
website. These links will be good through Thursday, December
31, 2009. Then on Friday, January 1, 2010, you'll get a new version
of the newsletter and a fresh new listings page with real time
updates on new ads during that week.)

MUSCLE CAR CLONES
Although appearance is only skin deep, this 1972
Yenko Deuce look-a-like (shown above left) from East Ridge
Motors in Tennessee is a keeper. But this one is not all
show. They say it has a mean 383 stroker motor, Powerglide with
trans-brake, frame connectors and traction bars. They say it
is one "bad" car. A collector from Woodbury, Minnesota
has listed his 1970
Chevrolet Nova SS (above center) which he says is a real
Super Sport car that now has been turned into an L78 396/375
hp recreation. See the detailed SLIDE
SHOW ad on this one. And for Mopar enthusiasts, you
have to check out this sharp recreation of a 1964

DEAL OF THE DAY
This week the DEAL of the DAY
feature has some cars that are extra nice for the price. Even
here in the Cars On Line Daily Update newsletter we aren't used
to such highly desirable cars showing up at such low prices.
Newsletter readers know that we feature the best prices here
in the DEAL of the DAY preview. In this DEAL
of the DAY section of our newsletter
we give readers first chance at the featured bargains among the
fresh ads on our website. Then during the coming week you'll
see these cars on our home page in the DEAL
of the DAY graphic that looks
like a "rear view mirror."
Here is a 1973
Camaro Z/28 that looks so good in the photos that we had
to make it our lead DEAL of the DAY
this Christmas weekend. The seller from Mt. Vernon, Illinois
has listed quite a few cars this week. This one he says is a
frame off restoration and
a real Z. According to the description, the paint and body are
better than new. They say the body panels and fitment are great.
The ad states that it currently has a crate 350, 350 turbo automatic
transmission, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes
and stainless exhaust. He indicates that everything is new. It
will be our DEAL of the DAY
on Saturday because with a nice asking price ... $26,500. We
think the second generation Camaros will be following the first
generation cars and go up in value, so this makes sense as a
"future collectible."
Everybody in our office is salivating over this Boxster being
offered at this price. A sports
car enthusiast from Grayslake, Illinois just posted this 2001 Porsche Boxster
with only 37k miles. The seller says it is in pristine condition,
never been in snow or rain and upgraded with after market exhaust
and stereo. He says it has a new top in the last two years and
that the interior is excellent. It has new Michelin Pilot tires.
And it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $15,750. Trust
me. That's a great price.
This is the sleeper of the group this week. A 1970
Dodge Super Bee was listed from Battle Creek, Michigan, and
it really looks good in the photos. It is true that the current
440 big block engine
is NOM. The seller says it has been in heated storage for over
20 years. It has an automatic transmission. He says that the
body is very straight with all its original panels, the floors
rust free, the interior is very nice, tires/wheels are new. He
describes the finish on this car to have been professionally
done and show quality. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY next week. What Mopar
fan would not want this beautiful car for $22,995?
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you.
Look, this is not an original big block Dart, even though
it has the big grabber hood. No, it is a sweet 1969
Dodge Dart GT that has been upgraded with a 440 ci big block.
The seller
says it is a true Dart GT. He also indicates that the block and
heads are date code correct for '69. He says it has been dyno'd
at 425 hp on pump gas and has a new transmission, new converter
and new driveshaft and 3.55 Sure Grip. The suspension and interior
are "all new," according to the ad copy. The headers
and exhaust system are by TTI. He says everything on the car
is new or fresh. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY next week. The asking
price is $23,000.
Although it was basically the Volare body style, a 1977
Plymouth Road Runner version was produced as a tribute to
Mopar fans who wanted a Road Runner option in the Plymouth lineup
for 1976-1977. The seller from Colorado Springs, Colorado says
it is a factory
original, 1-owner car with matching numbers on a 360 ci V8 engine.
It has factory T-tops with vinyl storage bags and an automatic
transmission. The seller says it comes with an original order
sheet, manufacturer's statement of origin and more documentation.
This car may have some "future collectible" value since
they only made 1,000 of them in 1977. It was the first model
that made use of an on-board engine computer, the Lean Burn system
with a 4-barrel electronic feed carburetor. It also had an interesting
suspension that was more performance tuned. Because this particular
Road Runner looks so good in the photos, it will be our DEAL of the DAY.
The asking price is $14,000.
Trying to find a nice Chevy Monte Carlo from the muscle car
era is an elusive task. That's why we thought it was cool that
a 1972 Chevy
Monte Carlo was just listed at a very affordable price. The
car comes from Delaware and looks very nice in the photos. Be sure to question
the seller about the body. It looks pretty straight in the photos.
Your job is to determine whether this car is as good as it looks.
The seller says it has a 350 small block engine with mild cam
and aluminum intake and dual exhaust. He says it has just 74,500
miles and comes with a build sheet and an owners manual. The
options include power steering, power brakes, air conditioning,
AM-FM and they say it is all original except for a few engine
mods. Thkey say it runs and drives well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY.
Are you ready for this? They only want $7,500.
A 1974 Corvette
was posted from Palm Coast, Florida. Although the now paint is
not original style, we think the price is very reasonable considering
that the seller says the interior
is like new with tan leather seats. He says the car has cold
air conditioning, power windows, mirror T-tops and he says even
the clock works. The engine is a 350 small block Chevy V8 with
automatic transmission. He says the brakes were done last year,
and that it has new carpet and new tires. It will be our DEAL of the DAY
and has some potential for a Corvette enthusiast who is looking
for a driver class car. The asking price is only $10,995.
Often there are more cars than we can feature on our front
page every week. Here is a list of cars that just missed the
cut for the DEAL of the DAY
feature. Remember, you saw them here first:
CARS FOR
$10,000-AND-UNDER
You'll be blown away by these values,
all $10,000 and Under. Some
of these cars are outstanding, really nice cars, not junk, and
yet they are priced at what we would consider "pocket change."
We want to remind you that
just because we feature vehicles here based on their price, we
are not endorsing these vehicles. We have not inspected or appraised
any of the above vehicles. We are pointing out that these vehicles
are priced at a discount to the market. When you buy from a private
party the purchase is always "as is" and "where
is." There is no warranty implied or given on any of these
cars by Cars On Line. It is your responsibility as the
buyer to protect yourself from misrepresentation of any car advertised.
We strongly recommend having a vehicle inspected as one precaution
before you buy.
