DEBUTS AT THE LA AUTO SHOW
At the Los Angeles Auto Show
this week a new 2010 Dodge Viper SRT10 roadster was unveiled.
It comes with improved suspension handling, structural rigidity
and new lower and upper control arms. That is a fair amount of
change for an exotic super car that is already well sorted out.
Consider that this may be the last year for the Viper, according to those
who read the tea leaves over at Chrysler, LLC. It will also be
featured with brand new front and rear stabilizer bars as well
as state-of-the-art front and rear coil-over shocks. The roadster
is the package you see pictured here. Among the new colors being
talked about for this year is a Toxic orange pearl and a Bright
silver metallic clear coat. You'll notice the new wider racing
stripes.
Only 500 Viper SRT10's will be produced in 2010. There will be
a number of limited edition models offered.
Its appearance at the L.A. Auto Show
is the first time it has been shown this year. The 2010 Los Angeles
Auto Show, which is held at the Los Angeles Convention Center,
began on December 4 and will run through December 13, 2009. It
kicks off the new car show season here in the U.S. Click here for a
look at concept cars and new offerings making their debut at
the L.A. Auto Show.
The tires are revised and the new Viper
SRT-10 comes with the ABS tuned rear Michelin ZP sport tires
along with the valve stem tire pressure monitoring sensors.
The 600 horsepower, 8.4 liter V-10 engine
remains unchanged. So it will still do 0 to 60 mph in less than
4 seconds and a quarter-mile time in the mid 11's. It's hard
to improve on that. But the transmission in the 2010 Viper will
have a shorter fifth gear ratio. By using a ZF Sachs twin-disc
clutch, Dodge engineers reduced pedal effort and improved the
engagement sensation.
The winged 2010 Viper SRT10 ACR coupe,
designed for road racing, just recently broke the lap record
at Laguna Seca Raceway.
OVER-THE-TOP CUSTOM
It took an Aussie custom car
fanatic with extreme attention to detail to literally fabricate
this awesome custom car from his own imagination. Not since Sam
Barris did the Hirohata '50 Merc Lead Sled has a car created
such a buzz throughout the custom car culture. And to top it
off, this was the first attempt at a custom design by this Australian
builder.
This all-metal 1950
Mercury Custom has been dubbed "Mercules" by its builder. They say it took 10,000 man
hours to build. The ground breaking style, concept and execution
are the stuff legends are made of. They say it has 170 body mods,
including the smoothed and filled all steel body, shortened nose,
decked hood, suicide doors and extended rear end. According to
Classic Car Marketing in SoCal, every inch of this car
is custom fabricated. The top was an excruciatingly difficult
chop, taking 1 1/2 inches from the front and up to 4 inches in
the back. The A pillar was leaned back 7 inches to create a unique
design flow. They say there are 900 hours in the custom paint.
And then there is the interior where the dash and console were
custom fabricated. If you hadn't seen it here, you might not
have believed it, right? Classic Car Marketing in Southern
California is representing this one-of-a-kind classic custom.
And it is currently for sale.

TOP VIDEO ADS THIS
WEEK
Our friends at Streetside Classics in Charlotte,
North Carolina have loaded up a lot of video ads this week. One
that caught our eye is a 1968
Camaro RS/SS 396 big block car with a houndstooth interior.
Crank
up the sound and click here to view an up close and personal
video of this great muscle car. They don't say anything about
it being a numbers matching car anywhere in the description so
I don't guess it is an investment play. But what a great ride!
Along with the 396ci power plant comes a 4-speed manual transmission,
fresh blue paint and new black houndstooth interior. A nice driver,
they say it has power steering and power brakes. It also comes
with custom wheels and radial tires. Click
here for a complete listing of the inventory at Streetside Classics.
You'll be amazed at how many of their ads have walk-around videos
included.
Here are some more hot videos of cars and trucks for sale
that were posted this week.
LOW MILES CARS
In 1990 when the first ZR1 was produced, it was a revolutionary
achievement for Corvette.
Corvette and Lotus teamed up to produce the world's fastest production
car with an LT5 aluminum engine producing 375 horsepower. This
1990
Corvette ZR1 (shown above center) comes from Kassabian
Motors in Dublin, California. They tell us it has only 3,615
original miles.
And see more low miles cars in the New
Listings, including: You'll find hundreds more amazing, pampered treasures
in our Low
Miles Section which is devoted solely to collector cars that
have had loving care and light use.
PROJECT CARS
We're all about street rods this week in the Project
Car Section. A 1941
Willys Coupe (shown above left) has been listed from Nickerson,
Oklahoma and the seller says he's just got too many other things
to accomplish in life and he's willing to let someone else finish
it. This car has a mild steel chassis with Mustang II front end,
rack and pinion with coil overs and disk brakes. The chassis
is certifiable for NHRA drag racing, according to the seller.
A similar situation occurred with the 1939
Ford Coast to Coast Roadster (shown above center) from Fitchburg,
Massashusetts. It was designed and built by New England Rod &
Custom, one of the largest hot rod shops on the East Coast. They
say all the hard work has been done. There is a long list of
top quality equipment that is already built into this very desirable
rod. You get it all for a reasonable investment. And a 1938
Chevy 2-Door Sedan (above right) is so close to being finished
but the Gainesville, Georgia hot rodder has to sell it now. He
indicates that it was completely disassembled and rebuilt by
an experienced builder. He says the only things left are to finish
the interior and paint the car.
In looking for a project car to restore,
make sure you watch our New
Listings page for daily updates. Or
you can find hundreds of project cars for sale now in the Cars
On Line Project
Car Section online.
PRICE CHANGES PAGE
A 1970
Chevelle SS from Castleton, Virginia just got a PRICE REDUCED tag posted
on it.
This is interesting. The ad says it has a true SS LS3 with a
U in the vin. It has correct round gauges and tach in dash, #s
matching 402 Big Block Chevy engine is now high performance and
450 hp, TH400 trans and 12-bolt posi rear end. The color is Viking
blue with silver stripes and a black interior. The one drawback
may be that it is a column shift automatic with a bench seat
instead of a console with buckets. But for an SS that just makes
it more rare. The seller has reduced the price to $25,000. It
looks pretty nice for such a reasonable price.
Here are more great deals with PRICE REDUCED
tags:
If you didn't check the Price

MUSCLE CAR CLONES
A 1972
Plymouth Hemi Cuda tribute car was built to look like a '70
model. It has been listed
by Kassabian Motors in Dublin, California. They describe
it as "red, hot and fast." The original 340 Cuda with
a factory 4-speed was updated with a 426 Hemi crate engine now
rated at 465 hp. It also has Hedman headers, Nascar style exhaust
system, March serpentine pulley system, Be Cool aluminum radiator,
a SPAL dual fan system, power steering, power 4-wheel disc brakes
and a rebuilt Hemi 4-speed transmission. The price is less than
1/3 the cost of a real '70 Hemi Cuda, at $59,995.
Fastlane Classic Cars in St. Charles, Missouri posted
a nice 1966
Mustang GT350R tribute which they say was professionally
restored and in racing trim. It is supposed to have
a 302 Mexican block bored to 306 ci, 4-barrel carb, blueprinted
& balanced, Edelbrock aluminum heads, 4-speed (wide ratio
Top Loader), 9in rear w/ 3.50 Detroit lockers, LeMans stripes,
Shelby badging, race stickers, Stewart Warner gauges, Moto Lita
steering wheel, all new suspension components, headers w/ correct
side exhaust and lowered front upper control arms giving it that
authentic racing look.

DEAL OF THE DAY
Newsletter readers know that
we feature the best priced cars here in the DEAL
of the DAY preview. In this
DEAL of the DAY section of our newsletter we give readers first
chance at the best deals among the fresh ads on our website.
Then during the coming week you'll see these cars featured on
our home page in the DEAL of
the DAY graphic that looks like
a "rear view mirror."
What a great deal on a rare and desirable Camaro. The classic
Camaro is the hottest muscle car among today's internet buyers.
A 1968 Camaro
RS/SS has been listed by a Ft. Lauderdale, Florida hobbyist.
This car is triple black, has a small block Chevy 350 engine
and an M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed, with 12-bolt, 3.42 posi rear
end. The seller says it has all new components: new exhaust,
new ceramic headers, electric conversion remote controlled headlamp
doors, new suspension front and rear, new power steering, factory
console, all new gauges and AM-FM pushbutton radio. He invites
you to view the fully detailed engine bay, detailed underside,
detailed interior and walnut center dash with ash tray. A chance
like this does not come along that often. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday with
an asking price of just $26,900.
Classic pickup trucks are getting popular again. Here is a
1953 Chevy Custom
Pickup with a nice original look from Cotati, California.
It is a shortbed with some custom mods, like the Mustang II front
end, 350/330 hp motor, Turbo 350 automatic transmission, air
conditioning, heater, tilt wheel, AM/FM with CD, power windows
and Chevy 10-bolt rear end with 373 gears. The photos show the
custom interior, and it has a newer oak bed. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on
Sunday with an asking price of $14,950.
Chevelle muscle car enthusiasts will jump all over this deal.
A 1969 Chevelle
SS has been listed from State Road, North Carolina. The seller
says it is all numbers matching, a local 1-owner
car and has the big block 396//325 hp motor with an automatic
transmission. It comes with nice options like power steering,
power brakes and cold factory air conditioning. He indicates
that he has the Protect-O-Plate plate. Hurry on this one. It
will be our DEAL of the DAY next week if it lasts that long. The price listed
is $28,500.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you.
Look, a Las Vegas collector is offering
his 1973
Plymouth Duster 340 for sale. The car
seems to take a good picture but you might want to ask what that
flat rear tire is all about.
The seller says it has only 40k original miles, a 1-owner title
and says that everything is original except for the steering
wheel. The ad says the car has bucket seats, white interior,
white vinyl roof, Torqueflite automatic transmission and even
air conditioning. The seller adds that there is not rust or bondo
on this car, which you would expect if it has always been a Nevada
car. You'll want to check this one out, but hurry. It will be
our DEAL of the DAY next week ... the asking price is only $9,000.
The Oldsmobile Toronado came out in 1966 and what a terrific
impact it made on the car industry at that time. It has a futuristic
design which still holds up today, and it was controversially
front wheel drive. Today we have one of these incredible cars
for sale on the collector car market, and I consider it to be
an investment play at this price. It is a 1968
Oldsmobile Toronado from Newton, North
Carolina. It has great pedigree. The seller says it comes with
all the paper work, including origianl window sticker and all
receipts for repairs and maintenance since new. He describes
it as a very nice 2-owner Toronado with one repaint. This will
also be a DEAL of the DAY because the asking price is $15,000. Hurry!
The 380 SL Mercedes was produced between
1981 and 1985, a short run for a fine motorsports convertible
roadster. It was built on the workhorse R107 chassis. Here was
see a 1984
Mercedes 380 SL Roadster being offered
for sale by a Norwich, Connecticut
man. One gets the feeling that this car may have been treated
rather special. They describe it as beautiful and clean. They
say it is a nice running convertible with only 43k miles on it.
It was originally from a southern state. They say it has no rust
or dents. The interior has the optional rear seat added. The
seller says it was only used as a summer driver and garaged all
year round. What is surprising is the price. The elegant sports
convertible will be our DEAL
of the DAY with a price of $12,500.
That's pretty affordable when you consider its potential as a
collector car.
When the Fox body Mustang first came
out everyone compared it with the Euro cars like Mercedes. The
design was pretty European looking for an American car. That
first year the Mustang was the Pace Car for the Indianapolis
500 race, an honor not often bestowed
upon Ford products. This 1979
Mustang Pace Car has been listed by
a collector from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. But after reading the
description, what you might be getting here is a modernized resto
rod by the looks of it. It has a built 331 stoker, forged crank
and h-beam rods, Edelbrock RPM heads, TFS stage 2 cam, Roller
rockers and Weiand Stealth intake. It has a T-5 manual transmission
with a Centerforce clutch and Hurst shifter. And the list goes
on. Suffice it to say we can't believe you can get this much
car for the asking price. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY priced at $15,000.
Often there are more cars than we can feature on our front
page every week. Here is a list of cars that just missed the
cut for the DEAL of the DAY
feature. Remember, you saw them here first:
