RICK DORE CLASSIC CUSTOM
Just a few weeks ago a Pennsylvania
car hobbyist was thinning his collection and happened to list
a custom Merc lead sled which was designed and built by Rick
Dore, a Hall of Fame custom car builder and winner of countless
design awards. It SOLD in a couple of days. Newsletter
readers who opened their newsletter late found a SOLD
sign on the beautiful SLIDE
SHOW ad. We're only telling
you this because another Rick Dore classic custom has been listed
by Classic Car Marketing in Southern California ... we
don't want you to miss out on this one.
You can feast your eyes on the 1961 Cadillac DeVille
Series 62 designed by Dore. He debuted
the car at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas in 1962. It received
the "Custom Lowrider of the Year"
award that year. Classic Car Marketing says, "This
custom has been nosed, decked and completely shaved, with rear
bumpers frenched, and the rear fins cut, stretched, sharpened
and filled." Colorado Custom Julesburg wheels were made
for this particular car. It comes equipped with a rebuilt 390
V8 engine with 325 horsepower. It has full Air Ride Technologies
suspension. Marcos Garcia of Lucky 7 Customs painted the car
in a special candy orange paint laid over a gold base with a
custom mix of metal flake flames and pin striping along the sides,
hood, and interior dash. In 2007, this Cadillac Lowrider was
named Goodguys Southwest Nationals "Coolest Custom."
Classic Car Marketing says, "This awesome piece of
rolling art built by Rick Dore is a must have in any custom collection."
VERY RARE MASERATI
OFFERED
I once was looking for a photo
of a Maserati Ghibli Spider and literally couldn't find one anywhere
on the internet. That's how rare this car is. The Auto Collections
in Las Vegas now has one for sale. I am
very pleased they included several detailed photos of this rare
1972
Maserati Ghibli SS Spider. No wonder
you can't find photos of this model. There were only 25 ever
built. Among exotic sports car afficionadoes it is one of the
most desirable cars you can own. The car is powered by its original
front engine quad-cam 335 hp V8. It has a 0-60 mph acceleration
time of 6.8 seconds, has a top speed of 154 mph + and transfers
that power by its 5-speed manual transmission. The Auto Collections
tells us that they believe the 4.9 SS Spider is one of the most
beautiful cars ever built.
RANDOM NEWS BITS
GM is offering an incredible incentive to inspire
some sales in the wake of their Cash For Clunkers success. Buyers
can take delivery of their new GM car and have 60 days to return
it for a full refund or, of course, keep it. GM says they feel
that once people get a chance to drive these cars they won't
bring them back. Here
is a video newsclip about the program from a local Michigan
Fox news broadcast ... Fast Lane Daily reported today that Chevrolet
has dumped their plans to make a high performance Z/28 version
of the new 2010 Camaro. What are they thinking?!
TOP VIDEO ADS THIS WEEK
Here are some more hot videos of cars and trucks for
sale that were posted this week.
LOW MILES CARS
A 1996
Pontiac Trans Am was just listed by The Auto Collections
of Las Vegas. They describe it as being "new" and still
"in the wrapper." Even after all these years they say
this car still has only 301 actual miles. You'll find it in their
museum/showroom at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino in Vegas.
Here is a Trans Am that is slightly older. Orlando Classic
Cars in Florida has listed a 1974
Trans Am Super Duty (shown above center) that they say is
numbers matching with the SD-455 big block engine and a 4-speed.
As the story goes, it was special ordered by a Pontiac executive
with every option available. They say it is well documented.
Incredibly, the ad copy says it has only 16,xxx actual miles.
This is definitely a high grade investment car.
It is so amazing how when a car remains in one family for
generations it often doesn't get used enough to have any miles
on it. Here is such a case where a 1947
Buick Super 4-Door Sedan (shown above right) is also offered
for sale by Orlando Classic Cars. They say this beauty
is documented and has only 19,000 actual miles.
And there are so many more for sale today in the New
Listings, including these: You'll find hundreds more amazing, pampered treasures
in our Low
Miles Section which is devoted solely to collector cars that
have had loving care and light use.
PROJECT CARS
There have been some very interesting restoration projects listed
recently. These cars are very desirable and have the potential
to be worth more than the cost to restore. Take this 1956
Pontiac Starchief Convertible (shown above left) for instance.
The private seller from Cooperstown, Pennsylvania says the car
is complete. However he points out that the floors are bad. One
of the more desirable Mustang muscle cars on the planet has been
listed for sale in our Project
Car Section. See the 1970
Boss 302 Mustang for sale from College Park, Maryland. They
evidently found this car in storage over 30 years. They have
it running. By our estimates it will need a total rotisserie
restoration. But the money could be there for this one. A 1959
Chevy Stepside Pickup was restored as a custom. Kassabian
Motors in Dublin, California has listed it for sale. They
say it just needs finishing. You can buy it at a very nice price,
$14,995.
And there's more:

PRICE CHANGES PAGE
A 1967
Shelby GT500 Eleanor resto mod from
Boca Raton, Florida was entirely built from an original '67 Mustang
Fastback with all new parts and equipment, says the seller. The
extensive and detailed build includes Heidt's Mustang II type
conversion kit, tubular steel control arms, coil springs, gas shocks, power
rack and pinion steering and front sway bar. The seller says
the geometry of the car is designed to give a comfortable ride
and respond like a modern Mustang. The seller says it is powered
by a 408 cubic inch Eagle stroker, making 525 hp, with a Tremec
T-56 6-speed manual and Wilwood master cylinder. I've seen cars
with this much attention to detail go for over $200,000. The
asking price on this one was $160,000. But the seller has just
reduced the price to $140,000. If you are in need of the best,
you might start here ... at a discount. As they say, "the
best for less."

this week. Just in time for Thanksgiving is a Hemi orange (hey,
I'd say Hemi orange is a Thanksgiving color) 1973
Plymouth Duster from Burnsville, Minnesota. The seller says
it has a new base coat, clear coat paint job. It is equipped
with a 360/380 hp Mopar Performance crate engine, a 727 automatic
Torqueflite transmission and a 3500 stall torque converter. He
says the car runs and drives well with an 8 3/4" Suregrip
rear end. The car also has power steering and power brakes along
with air conditioning and bucket seats. It will be our DEAL of the DAY
on Saturday. I hope you are sitting down ... 'cause you can own
this beautiful muscle car for $9,500 !! Hurry!
Just say the words "389 with Tripower" to any Pontiac
collector and it'll get their heart started better than a defibrillator.
Those words ring true when talking about the 1962
Pontiac Catalina 2-Door Hardtop just posted from Centerville,
Tennessee. The seller says it has an original 389 big block
and a recently rebuilt tripower, plus newly rebuilt Borg-Warner
T-10 4-speed transmission. He says the rear gear is 3.23. He
says the car runs, rides, handles and stops excellent; has new
tires, Flowmaster exhaust, battery, flywheel and clutch assy.
In the ad copy you'll find that the body is straight and the
10-year-old paint shines with no dents or deep scratches. He
says the interior is in great shape as well as the trunk with
no rust, original mat and spare tire. The seller indicates that
there is a wrinkly in the left rear interior sail panel and the
rear package tray is fading. Check out the SLIDE SHOW ad on this one. It sure takes
a nice picture. It will be our DEAL
of the DAY on Sunday with an
asking price of $19,500.
Classic Ford Thunderbirds have just survivied two years of
downward trending prices. One of the theories for the depreciation
is that so many of the Thunderbirds have been restored now that
the shear numbers have flooded the market. While it is true that
there are many to choose from it is also true that they are as
desirable today as they were three years ago when they peaked pricewise.
Take this coral red 1955
Ford Thunderbird from Saint Paul, Virginia. It is unrestored,
yet still in good original condition. It comes with the removable
porthole hardtop, a 292 ci engine and 3-speed on the floor. The
seller says it comes from California and he still has a California
title, and remains rust free. He says it has a new windshield
and new chrome. Front bumper guards come with the vehicle although
they are not shown in the photos. He says the "car is as
good as can be found without total restoration." It will
be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the seller is only
asking $22,700. Anything
under $30,000 on a car this good deserves a look.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you.
The 1965
Chevelle Malibu SS just listed from Hattiesburg, Mississippi
looks like a nice "starter car" type street machine.
According to the ad copy, it has a 350 ci engine with aluminum heads and intake, lopey cam,
Hooker headers, Holley carb, Accell and MSD ignition, and more.
The seller says the transmission is a Turbo 400 with 2500 stall
torque converter, and the rear end has a 10-bolt center with
3.31 posi type rear gear. He says it runs cool and is fun to
drive. It "will make someone a good entry level muscle car,"
he says. But it will be our DEAL of
the DAY next week because of
the way the seller has it priced. You can own it now for $14,000.
A motorcycle collector from Bay Springs,
Mississippi listed one of his private stock this week. He is
offering a 2003
Harley VRod at a very nice price. It has 28k miles
on it and he says it has been to Sturgis three time and Daytona
twice. It has heated grips, a quick release windshield, Sundowner
seats, chrome belt cover and custom foot pegs, according to the
ad copy. In fact, there are lots of extras on this bike, he says.
It will be our DEAL of the DAY
next week because the asking
price is $8,500.
Here is a classic Corvette that is priced
right and has investment potential. A 1974
Corvette Convertible was listed from
South Woodstock, Connecticut. More importantly,
this Corvette Convertible comes with the venerable 454 big block
engine. The seller, who may be a classic dealer, says the numbers
match and that it has a deluxe interior. He also states that
the frame is rust fee and has never been in a wreck. This car
seems to have potential. Yet he's asking only $22,500. That's
why it will be our DEAL of the
DAY.
This one is more of a project than we
usually feature here, but it's such a unique opportunity that
we think it should be a DEAL
of the DAY. A 1967
Chevelle 2-Dr Hardtop was listed from
Carpentersville, Illinois. Keep in mind that the seller says
this was once a Car Craft magazine feature car.
The seller says it is set up for a short block, but you will
have to provide the Chevy 350 engine. Black, with Candi stripes,
this car has a custom interior with swiveling bucket seats. He
says it comes with Dart aluminum heads, MSD ignition, a 4-speed
transmission and 12-bolt rear with a Moroso posi unit and 4.11
gears. He says there are so many custom features, he'll have
to tell you about all of them when you call. It sounds like he
will be losing his storage spot for this car so he has to sell.
His loss could be your gain. The asking price is $14,500.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you.
Often there are more cars than we can feature on our front
page every week. Here is a list of cars that just missed the
cut for the DEAL of the DAY
feature. Remember, you saw them here first:

all $10,000 and Under. Some
