If you are a regular newsletter reader this week's edition is must reading. As the prospects for an upward trend in collector car prices loom in the near future we are still seeing the effects of a bad economy taking down some of our friends in the industry. Many collectors are caught in the position of having bought their cars a few years ago when the market was at its peak. Even though this newsletter began warning collectors that prices were trending downward starting in 2007 already, many could not believe that their cars were going to depreciate. In today's newsletter you will see cars that are being offered for less than half of what they were purchased for just a few short years ago. While this is a sad situation for the sellers, it is an incredible opportunity for the buyers. Bargain prices abound in today's newsletter. Read this one very thoroughly.

Newsletter readers should watch for a Thanksgiving Special Edition. It will arrive in your email on Thursday, a day earlier than usual so that you can enjoy it during your holiday free time.

RINGS BROTHERS KONA MUSTANG
This is the third time this year that a custom resto mod show car done by the Ring Brothers was featured here in the newsletter. From their high tech shop in Spring Green, Wisconsin the Ring Brothers were among the early builders of custom Resto Mods. At this point they are among the best custom builders in the country. Many of you may have seen them unveil their most recent creation, the 1964 Ford Fairlane custom they call "Afterburner," at this year's SEMA Show. And you may remember in September when an advertiser put up for sale one of their early creations, the 1967 Mustang Copperback, unveiled at SEMA several years ago.

Well today we have another early Ring Brothers custom for sale. They like to name their custom creations, and this 1967 Mustang Resto Mod they called "Kona" (shown here on the right.) It has a Roush 427R power plant, with 500+ horsepower, Concept One pulleys, Momar Eight Stack fuel injection, Fuel Safe fuel cell, performance C4, 9" rear end by John's Rearends and Hooker headers. The suspension is state of the art: Fatman Air Ride air struts, Air Ride air bar and Total Control X-bracing and sub-frame connectors. This incredible ride has been posted by R&H Motorcars in Eastlake, Ohio. R&H lists some of the most exotic custom rides we see here in the Cars On Line ad listings. For more of their inventory follow this link.

GEORGE BARRIS CELEBRITY CUSTOM
Speaking of custom designers, the virtuouso himself, George Barris, is generally considered the "King of Kustomizers." One of his most unique creations sits in the gallery at Dan Schmitt & Company in St. Louis. They just listed the famous 1967 Oldsmobile Toronado 70-X, one of two built by Barris. The 70-X just completed a frame-up restoration to the original classic custom design. From Gold metallic finish to the tan leather wrap-around interior, this car is signature perfect in its design. It incorporates the Toronado front wheel drive power train, 454 big block with Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and TH-400 transmission. The custom designed interior includes a writing desk. Barris lengthened the body by 38 inches providing enough room for wrap-around lounge-style rear seating like a limousine. This was one of Barris' mosts ambitious creations. Dan Schmitt & Company now are offering this phenomonal custom for sale.

CAMARO BACK IN DEMAND
According to the most recent statistics at Google and Yahoo, the Chevrolet Camaro was the most sought after muscle car among internet car buyers in October. However, the pendulum swung in the classic car market. Fords are now the most sought after classic cars.

In the chart below are two lists indicating the interests of muscle car buyers and classic car buyers during October, 2009.  Cars On Line reported that Corvettes were the most popular muscle cars in the month of September, verified by Google and Yahoo search engine results. Corvettes are informally known as the gold standard in the collector car market. Also in September we noted that Classic Chevrolets were the most sought after classic car make. (
You can follow this link to view the newsletter with a chart on September buying trends.)

RANDOM NEWS BITS
An AutoWeek News Brake video that we have running on the front page of our website sets the rumor mill churning. They say that Danica Patrick will be running a few select NASCAR races this next year. Rumors have it that she will be driving a car owned by Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

TOP VIDEO ADS THIS WEEK
A 1978 Pontiac Trans Am was posted this week by a dealer. When we opened the link we found he also included a video ad which we choose as Best Video Ad of the Week. So we decided to show it to you here. Click the link to view the video ad on You Tube. Not only is it a nice walk-around, but the precocious advertiser tweaks the viewer with wild video action and music. "Children, do not try to do this at home." The Trans Am has a custom 1970 YH 455ci motor bored .040 but with the original 6X-4 heads milled to 84cc. This is a great combination that produces excellent torque. The seller says this car is fast! The transmission is a TH350 with a shift kit and 2600rpm stall converter, while the rear end is the original 3.42 positraction unit. It comes from one of the newest members of the Cars On Line Dealer Network. Diversion Motors in Manitowoc, Wisconsin has a small but choice selection of muscle cars and hot rods. Another of their listings this week is a 1971 Corvette Baldwin-Motion look-a-like that is actually a Pro Street. Click here to view a video of the Baldwin-Motion Corvette. Or click this link to see more of the inventory from Diversion Motors.

The hood ornament was from a 1953-1955 Nash. The prize for getting the correct answer is a free Run Till Sold ad, a $45 value, to advertise a vehicle for sale on the Cars On Line website. This person has received a coupon good for one Run Till Sold ad in his email. Thanks to all our readers for participating in the contest. rare Pistol grip 4-speed

1932 Ford Highboy Roadster
3" drop, 4-bar suspension

1954 Buick Super 56C.
needs front floorboards

This week we are featuring a street rod, convertible and a muscle car in our Project Car Section. A 1954 Buick Super 56C Convertible (above right) from Washburn, North Dakota looks to have lots of potential. The owner says he has held on to this car for 30 years. He said he had the 322ci motor hot tanked, and the heads and automatic transmission rebuilt. However, it needs front floorboards. In his own words, the car is solid, rust free and always stored inside. Not much is being said about the 1973 Plymouth Cuda (shown above left) from Los Angeles, California. The seller does say it has original floor pans and a rare BS23H Pistol grip. It's a 4-speed with rally gauges, he adds. Now, a private seller in Janesville, Wisconsin has a black, Heritage body 1932 Ford Highboy Roadster to offer to anyone interested in restoring old street rods. It comes with a rolling chassis (minus the motor and transmission) with an 9" rear axle. This Highboy has a 3" drop and 4-bar front suspension.

Then during the coming week you'll see these cars featured on the home page of our website in the DEAL of the DAY graphic that looks like a "rear view mirror."

You'll love the mild custom '50s look of this 1956 Ford Fairlane Custom from Roanoke, Virginia. It is a 2-Door Club Sedan and the seller says it has been beautifully restored. Although he describes it as a "survivor", obviously by his own words it has some custom tweaks. What he is trying to say is that the 292 Y block V8 and Ford-O-Matic transmission are original. He says everything on the car works. He describes it to be a nicely restored classic. Among the things that he says have been redone are the water pump, fuel pump, manifold, exhaust and gas tank. The interior is said to be original although he notes that the front seat cover could be replaced. He uses the words "beautiful condition" to summarize this car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. I hope you are sitting down ... 'cause the price on this car is only $14,500.

Drive in style in this baby blue1961 Plymouth Sport Wagon from Butler, Indiana. Don't forget to bring your frineds and family because this station wagon looks to have lots of room. Check out this bright yellow 1950 Chevy Sedan Delivery listed for sale in Putnam, Connecticut. It has a 305 Chevy small block engine with a turbo 400 transmission. The car grips the road with 15" rally wheels. These vehicles wee originally built to be dependable work vehicles back in the day. The seller says this car has a great finish with plenty of room on the side for signage. He says it "is a great hot rod for the money." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the seller is only asking $15,000.

The seller of this1973 Corvette 454 in Franklin, North Carolina says the car has 56,000 original miles on it. It's an all white painted T-Top Vette with a factory 454 big block engine, original motor and 4-speed manual transmission. He also says the interior appears original but showing some normal wear and tear. According to the owner, the engine runs good and strong. He says a new clutch ws installed making the car and shift "nice and smooth." "We have taken it on several two hour trips with no problems at all," the owner reports. For only $17,500, you can go on your own road trips. This is why this Vette will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday.

It's not very offen that a low cost resto mod comes along. We are furtunate to see this 1966 Mustang Sedan Resto Mod from Hahira, Georgia listed. The owner describes this Mustang as a #2 car with a rebuilt V8 Cobra engine that cranks out near 400 horsepower. He adds that only 2,500 miles have been put on the car since restoration. The car has new seats and a restored interior. The seller said he spent $6,000 on the paint job alone with total restoration costs of $28,000. However, he is only asking $18,000 making this Mustang our DEAL of the DAY.

The Franklin, North Carolina seller of this 1968 Ford Torino GT says this car, "runs and drive great." We hope he's right because it has a 390 engine, power steering and power brakes. Not much more is said about this car. However, what we can tell you is that this 1968 Torino is a first year model. It was made to be an upsale version of the Ford Fairline. Ford produced Torino's between1968 and 1976. Now, you have the opportunity to buy one for the low price of $12,500. This is a DEAL of the DAY that can't be beat.

If you ever wanted a low cost traditional street rod, here's your chance. Here is a 1931 Ford Model A Pickup in Rochester Hills, Michigan. It has a 1940 Merc 289ci Flathead V8 engine encased in an all original steel body. The engine is accompanied with a C4 automatic transmission. Look good driving this oldie with its black exterior and fire accents on the door. The interior, the seller says, is LeBaron Bonney stock. The car, "runs great and is fun to drive," according to the seller. Althought the seller says the car was appraised at $29,500, he's letting it go for $27,000. No wonder this car is our DEAL of the DAY this week.

Don't forget! Have these cars inspected before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See the Cars On Line Inspection Service at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
