The collector car market continues its hot streak. More cars
are selling this fall than we've ever seen before at this time
of the year. The fuel for the heightened activity is continued
downward price trending. With prices this low on hot collector
cars there will continue to be buyers. We may be experiencing
the best market for buyers that we will ever see again in our
lifetimes. Be sure to take advantage of it. Check the price changes
link below. A 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge was just reduced to $50,000.
Read on.
CORVETTE OVERTAKES CAMARO
Last month something happened
in the collector car market which has happened rarely in the
past three years. The icon of the muscle car era ... the most
sought after car on the planet ... the first generation Chevrolet
Camaro has been supplanted by the Corvette as the car most sought
after by internet buyers. I've only seen that happen twice in
the past three years (the time frame in which we've been keeping
statistics on internet buying habits.) In September, more buyers
were searching for muscle car era Corvettes than first generation
Camaros. Exactly 15.8 percent of all buyers of collector cars
were looking for muscle car era Corvettes in September, that
according to our combined Google and Yahoo search engine statistics.
The percentage of buyers looking for Camaros dropped to 14.2
percent. Don't worry, though, Camaro still remains at No. 2 on
our list of the Top Ten most popular muscle cars. All this should
not be too surprising to our newsletter readers. Corvettes are
considered the "gold standard" of collector cars. Fortunately,
the selection of Corvettes for sale has never been better in
our Corvette
Section. Below is a chart of the Top
Ten muscle cars and the Top Ten classic cars based on the number
of times buyers have entered them into a search request on the
Google and Yahoo search engines.

In the Classic Car category, most collectors were looking for
classic Chevrolets last month. Studebakers, however, continue
to be phenomenally popular, garnering second place. To compare
the current lists with those we last published in July click

CORVETTE ZR1 FOR SALE
This week we've seen only the
second 2009
Corvette ZR1 ever posted for sale on
the Cars On Line.com website. It was listed by Kassabian Motors
in Dublin, California. They say it has the rare
3ZR Package. It is powered by an LS9 Supercharged 6.2 Liter V-8,
rated at 638 hp. The first one ever listed on our website appeared
in our listings a few weeks ago and is already sold (see it with
a SOLD sign in the Corvette
Section.)
Jay Leno owns the first serial numbered
ZR1. Click
this link to view a video of Jay Leno and what he has to say
about how important the ZR1 is in automotive history. In the video he indicates that this is the
most powerful car ever made at GM. You can view more videos and
interesting photos of the Leno car collection by going to Jay
Lenos Garage.com (www.jaylenosgarage.com) on the web. The way things look at GM they
may not be making the ZR1 in the future. Here is a "future
collectible" waiting to happen.
SUPER RARE PROTOTYPE
The word "prototype"
inspires thoughts of "one-of-a-kind" rareness that
kindles the heart of a collector. Dan Merson at Mershon's
World of Cars in Springfield, Ohio says this 1964
Griffith Prototype won't disappoint
you. He says it is the first Griffith ever built! It is verified
by Mike Moody to be the only Griffith factory prototype and is
serial numbered 200-4-000. The car comes from a private collection
where it has been for the past 35 years. Only 192 Griffith Series
200's were built in 1964; only 140 are still known to exist.
They say the prototype has the 289 Hi-Po engine with dual 4-barrel
carburetors and Ford 4-speed transmission. It was featured in
the book "The Griffith Years" by Mike Moody which documents
some of its original build. Mershons says the car has
been autographed by Jack Griffith and Carroll Shelby. This is
an incredible and historic piece of automotive history. Mershons
has just updated their inventory on our website. Click
here to view all of their fresh listings.
DEALER HAS A NEW WEBSITE
This week the Corvette Experience
in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida unveiled their new website. After
joining the Cars On Line Dealer Network they decided they needed
a fresh redesign of their website to take advantage of the new
traffic they were receiving from Cars On Line. They've made it
easier to navigate their site and have provided links that will
allow you to find the ads you are looking for. Corvette Experience
specializes in Corvettes, but recently has been offering muscle
cars, street rods and street machines in their postings. We've
notice that they've been listing some interesting Project Cars
as well. Click
here for a view of their updated inventory.
LOW MILES CARS
Not only is this 1966
Pontiac GTO (shown above left) numbers matching and PHS documented,
but Northwest Auto Sales in N. Canton, Ohio says it has
just 28k actual miles. Bob Lorius, owner of Northwest,
was debating whether to put this original 389 bib block car in
his own collection or sell it. Luckily it is for sale. Featured
in our Low
Miles Section today you'll see a 1955
Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible (above center) from Dallas,
Texas. Gypsy red and Shoreline beige are the colors. The owner
says it is a 265 V8 with a Power Pack 4-barrel and an automatic
Powerglide. He sayys it has only 21k original miles. And Orlando
Classic Cars in Florida has listed a very rare and desirable
1991
Camaro Z/28 1LE (shown above right), the car that was born
to race. They say it has had only one owner all its life and
that owner only put 3,900 miles on this true collector car. What
a find! Orlando Classic Cars has listed many more low miles cars.

PROJECT CARS
A 1973
Camaro RS custom hot rod (shown above left) has been partially
done, looks like it would be an easy job to finish. That's what
Vanguard Auto Sales in Farmington, Michigan tells us.
They have it for sale. It has a 454 .030. A collector/dealer
in Hueytown, Alabama listed several interesting project cars
for restoration. One is a 1957
Chevy Bel Air Sport Coupe Hardtop (above center) which they
say needs a total restoration. I think the seller of the 1959 Lincoln Continental
(shown above right) was listing it as a running and driving car.
From the photos it would seem to be a better candidate for restoration.
It is a 4-door hardtop with Turnpike rear window.

VINTAGE AMERICAN CARS ...

True vintage treasure was listed for sale this
week by Classic Car Marketing in Southern California.

7-Passenger Limousine. This rare Series 341-B, Style #8630, Body
#891, Engine #330217 is one of only a few to exist today. |
 |
The private seller of this rare 1937
Graham Cavalier says it has only 22k original miles. The
Massachusetts owner says it needs nothing, and that it runs and
drives as it did when it was new. As always, have it inspected.
This one would look good in your collection. |
 |

 |
A 1964
Chevy Impala SS was just listed out of Indianapolis, Indiana.
They call it the "G-Ride." It was featured in Lowrider
Magazine. Notice the 14x7 wheels, 100 spoke Daytons, hydraulic
package and tons of chrome. See more for sale in the Lowrider
Section online. |
CLASSIC CUSTOMS ...
 |
A ton of work has been done to this 1949
Chevy Sedan Delivery. They say it was built by Ram's Rod
Shop in Dover, Delaware. According to the seller, they chopped
the car three inches and installed the front end suspension.
The restoration is said to have been a nut and bolt frame off
process. Whoever gets it will be able to take it to the next
level. |
 |
Mild custom, but with top quality parts, this
1955 Chevy Bel
Air Convertible has a Street & Performance LS1 engine,
4L60E automatic, custom tubular frame, Ford 9" rear, power
rack and pinion, 4-wheel discs, Vintage air and heat, and much
more. They say it has less than 400 miles. |
 |
Look at the stance on this custom 1977
Lincoln Mark V Cartier from Top Notch Vehicles in
Jefferson, Wisconsin. I like it. They say it has been on the
Hot Rod Power Tour three times so it has the ability to do some
cruisin'. And the asking price is only

MUSCLE CAR CLONES
Among the muscle car clones (recreations) this week is a 1968 Shelby GT500
Convertible (shown above left) from Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
The seller says the donor car was an actual 1968 Mustang Convertible
born with a big block S Code 390 cubic inch engine with a 4-barrel
carburetor and a top loader 4-speed transmission. The black 1969
Yenko Chevelle recreation (above center) was listed by Northwest
Auto Sales in N. Canton, Ohio. They credit it with a 427-425
hp with a 4-speed, power steering power disc brakes and a 12-bolt
positraction rear end. They say it drives and runs as good as
it looks. And Streetside Classics in Charlotte, North
Carolina has listed a 1970
Buick GS 455 which they call a Stage 1 tribute. They say
it has been nicely restored and will do you proud. They are only
asking $18,995.

DEAL OF THE DAY
It is a sign of the times. Prices
continue to drop on some very nice collector cars. Newsletter
readers know that we feature the best ones here in the DEAL of the DAY
preview. In this DEAL of the
DAY section of our newsletter
we give readers first chance at the best deals among the fresh
ads on our website. Then during the coming week you'll see these
cars featured on the home page of our website in the DEAL of the DAY
graphic that looks like a "rear view mirror."
With all the talk about Corvettes and how popular they are
among collecors it seemed only fitting that our featured DEAL of the DAY be a classic Corvette.
A Waukesha, Wisconsin collector listed this 1964
Corvette Coupe which he calls a "survivor." He believes that
because he says it was stored since the 70's in a local garage.
The color is the desirable Daytona blue and it has dark blue
interior. It is a 300 hp, 4-speed. They say they have all the
original parts including the original radiator (not shown) that
go with the car. The original shifter and numbers matching engine
block are safely stored and shown in the photos. He says that
the original block has the date and VIN stamps. He said he was
surprised that even the alternator is original to the car. You
don't find a significant collectible like this everyday. It will
be our DEAL of the DAY on
Saturday with an asking price of $28,500.
Remember when these 2002
Camaro SS 35th Anniversary editions first came out? They
were discontinuing the Camaro and this was the hottest looking
Camaro we'd seen in some time. They were born to
be collectible. An enthusiast from Redding, California says he
bought this one brand new for his wife (hence the automatic transmission.)
He says it was always garaged and never abused. The ad says it
has just 50k miles. It was ordered with a graphite leather interior,
premium sound and all options, including 4-wheel disc brakes
and 17" factory SS wheels. It however does not have glass
tops. He says the condition is "like new." It will
be our DEAL of the DAY on
Sunday, because this is the best price we've ever seen on one
of these cars ... $12,900.
I'll never forget how one buyer lamented that he couldn't
find a classic '60s Chevy Nova for under $20,000. I hope he's
reading this newsletter. A 1966
Chevy II Nova from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
has been offered for sale. The seller describes it as beautiful
and rust free in its Artesion Turquoise color with a 283 V8 and
a Powerglide transmission and he says it has only 45k miles.
The car includes headers, dual exhaust, power steering, power
brakes and updated CCP tubular control arms, according to the
ad copy. He says he has the Protecto plate, and some important
parts that go with the car. It really looks good in the photos,
doesn't it? It will be our DEAL of the
DAY next week with an asking price of $15,500.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
With a slightly custom stance and stunning black paint this
rare 1961 Oldsmobile
88 Bubbletop is a rare one indeed. Notice the custom pinstriping
ala the 1970s. The aluminum wheels have bullet caps. They
also say it has no rust and runs and drives real nice with its
big block 394 cubic inch V8, power steering and power brakes.
Be sure to view the Slide Show ad. The seller is not hiding the
interior which probably brings the car down to an average No.
3 condition. But even with its warts, this is a rare car and
our DEAL of the DAY later
in the week. The asking price is only $15,000.
From the plains of Nebraska comes a very interesting little
1965 Plymouth
Valiant 2-door post equipped to be a race car, but the seller
talks about it like it was a street car. They say it has a big block
440 cid motor, 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission, and only
1,500 miles on motor and trans. The seller says they have all
the paperwork on it. Maybe ask them if this car has ever been
raced. I think I see a roll bar in there. Is that a dent in the
fender? Make sure you have it inspected so you get the whole
story. But at this price it will be our DEAL
of the DAY next week because this is a lot of car
for the money ... the ad says only $10,000.
Don't forget! Have these cars inspected
before you buy. One man's great opportunity is another man's
nightmare. You have to know if the car is right for you. See
the Cars On Line Inspection Service at http://www.cars-on-line.com/insp-1stpg.html
Yesterday a Racine, Wisconsin seller listed this black 1965 Pontiac Grand
Prix and it looks interesting from the photos. After seeing
this one you realize they just aren't very common anymore. The photos look
pretty good on this midsized luxury performance car. The seller
says it is a very solid, original car and states that it is 90
percent original paint, original interior and has a 389 4-barrel
V8 which he says runs and drives great. He says it has new brakes
with dual master cylinder conversion and says there are only
87k miles. Again, this is probably one that you will want to
have inspected to make sure it is for real. It will be our DEAL of the DAY with an asking price
of $8,900.
More cars could have qualified for this week's DEAL
of the DAY feature than we have days to publish them.
Often there are more cars than we can feature on our front page
every week. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for
the DEAL of the DAY feature.
Remember, you saw them here first:
