San Antonio Auction PREVIEW
COL's First Venture is Online Auction for ICA

Cars On Line's recent experiences at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona has renewed out interest in online auctions. Our first venture at being involved in the auction process is coming up next week. We are helping to promote the upcoming ICA Auction in San Antonio, Texas on February 13, 2010. Over 200 classics, muscle cars and street rods will be in the sale. And Cars On Line's readers are invited to register to participate in the sale online.

Cars On Line has teamed up with iCollector.com to bring you the online component of this live auction which will be held at Oak Tree Dealer's Auction in San Antonio. If you are interested in bidding you can register at iCollector.com to become a bidder. When you log in on Saturday you will be invited to view a webcast of the live auction beginning at 10 am.

One interesting aspect of bidding with this new system is that you can set a price range for bidding on each car. For instance, you may decide you would like to bid on this 1978 Corvette Pace Car with just 116 actual miles. This incredible find will likely go for about $30,000. (The way we figure the price is that a very nice No. 2 condition '78 Indy Pace Car is worth about $20,000. The incredible low miles should add about $10,000 to the price.) So let's say you wanted to guarantee that you got the high bid in the auction but wanted to make sure your bid does not go over $30,000. You might start your bid at $20,000 and then put $30,000 as your highest bid point. Our system would enter you into the bidding as close to $20,000 as possible. If another bidder is at $23,000, our system will enter your bid at $23,500 (you have to bid at $500 increments at that price range.) If there are no bids after yours then you have purchased the car. Otherwise the system would keep bidding at $500 intervals. It would stop placing bids for you at $30,000 which you set as your high bid on this car. After you are registered you can log in and place bids even before the auction begins. Some cars have bids on them now even though the live auction will not start until February 13.

Because many of the classic car dealers who consign to this auction do not let ICA known until checkin time on Friday which cars they will bring to the sale, you wont' be able to see all the consignments until Friday, February 12. But many of the vehicles already consigned to the sale are currently on the auction sale webpage on iCollector.com.

Since Cars On Line's Inspection Service has pretty good coverage in San Antonio, we can have inspectors at the sale to inspect the vehicles between 8 am and 10 am on Saturday. You have to order the inspection at least by Tuesday to have a car inspected there on Saturday morning.
