1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible
Ford Thunderbird Convertible. Of all the collector cars I've owned, this one has been rock-solid reliable providing trouble free top-down fun over the past 9 years. On this car, the engine and transmission, as well the convertible top motors, relays, and hydraulics were all rebuilt and/or restored. The Y block 390 V-8 and automatic transmission are known to be bulletproof, with parts that are both readily available and inexpensive. Power locks and cruise are not currently working.
I purchased this car from the third owner who bought it from his niece, who purchased it from the original owner in 1977. The seller owns a body shop and in '06 performed a bare metal repaint in the original factory correct shade of Rangoon Red. The PPG basecoat/clearcoat remains perfect ten years later and is a tribute to the proper paint prep this car received. Besides the paint, the unique factory interior makes this T-Bird a standout. Why? Because in 1964 when you ordered a "red Interior" from Ford, the interior was actually several shades darker than the Rangoon Red exterior. So for this car, part of the restoration was to dye the interior to match the exterior. While subtle, this enhancement makes the "big picture" really stunning, as you'll see in the pictures. Options include:
Cruise control - Power locks - Reclining passenger seat with headrest - Remote driver side & interior day/night mirrors - seat belts - and "safety convenience control panel".
Radio is new with MP3/ipod input that plays your '60s music through a new in dash dual cone stereo speaker, as well as a factory rear speaker.
The tinted/shaded windshield is brand new and crystal clear.. Restoration also included a new white convertible top which performs flawlessly.
