1958 BMW Isetta 600 Limo
BMW Isetta 600 Limo. The BMW factory since the 1930's has catered mostly to the wealthy car buyers around the World, but not until the mid-50's did they take on a whole new generation of Micro cars, called the Isetta 600 to carry a small family from point A to point B while getting 60 MPG. August 1957 saw the proper introduction of the model, to universal acclaim. Stylish looks (Michelotti had been involved) with its new "knife edge" bumpers, fantastic room inside with rear seat access by a side door, and the motor no longer sat in the passenger compartment. It was quiet, its wheel at each corner design gave a great ride, and there was sufficient power for hill-climbing. It was pricey, however, at 200 Marks more than a VW Beetle. This example has been restored to such a high level not usually associated w/these silly Isetta's. It's 2 tone finish of Pepper White over Hot Orange metallic complimented it's pretty Tan interior. Quite outstanding w/all new rubber trim & detailed like you never see on these in general. 582cc/26hp, 2-cylinder engine with a 4-speed transmission, ultra rare BMW Isetta 600 limousine body style. Only produced for 2 1/2 years. Weighs a mere 1236 lbs. Max cruising speed is 62 MPH and averages 40-50 miles per gallon. Runs and drives as new. No expense spared. Test miles only since restoration. Original owner's manual included to explain operation of this seldom seen BMW 600 Microcar. Shop manual and other BMW 600 literature included. She runs great & shifts quite well. This is one of the best one in the world !
