Pontiac Trans Am. The Trans-Am was the premier muscle car of the late 70's, and this example presents an outrageous ride. Climb in and the racing buckets hold you firmly. A turn of the key starts the fuel pump humming, while the engine roars to life roar through the 3" exhaust. As you engage the B&M ratchet shifter, you realize the power steering and brakes make things easy to handle, as long as you don't spin the Nitto drag radials.
The motor is a desirable combination of a 1970 YH 455ci block (+0.040") with the original W72 400ci 6X-4 heads (milled to 84cc). The transmission is a TH350 with shift kit and 2600rpm converter, while the rear has the original 3.42 positraction.
The body was redone and repainted with new quarter panels, wheel tubs, valence panel, windshield, and rear springs. A 4-point roll bar was installed with welded subframe connectors; the car corners great! The interior has been redone. Everything works including the power windows, power locks, clock, stereo and heater. The a/c has been removed, though, and Autometer oil and temperature gauges have replaced the ash tray. After all, better to smoke the tires than the interior.
