1971
Buick GSX Tribute

Buick GSX Tribute.
Here are the spec's - 1971 Buick GS-350 cloned into a 71 GSX-455 stage 1. It has power steering / power brakes / power seat / front discs / a/c
Engine:
It is 455 bored 30-40 thousands, has notched hyperateautic (sp??) 10:1 pistons. The rods & rotating assembly was balanced (to 5000-6000 rpm) & put together at UAP engine builders in Utica, NY. I called them to confirm this when I bought the car. The crank was cut & trued to 10/10 under. It has a TA performance cam (TA510) & TA performance lifters. Per the V8 buick website, the TA510 cam is the biggest cam for the car without having vaccuum issues. The block was decked 20 thousands & the heads cut 30 thousands. It has had mild porting done to the heads & intake. It has an MSD complete electronic ignition w/ a 5500 rev limiter setting. Compression is around 10:1 so I have always run 92 or better w/ no issues. It has a TA performance intake w/ a holley 850 carb. Finally is has full length TA peformance chrome headers w/ full 3" dual exhaust into the 40 series dynaflow (I believe) mufflers. Out of the mufflers is 3" exhaust that exists in the stock location. The engine had roughly 5000 miles on it & I have put maybe 1000 miles on the car. I cleaned up & rewired / loomed the under-hood electrical. I had custom 1 gauge battery cables made & installed a new battery & it has a new high torque starter. This is an a/c car - the system has been converted to R-134 - I had the POA valve rebuilt & re-calibrated for R-134. A/C head vacuum for 30 minutes & blow ice cold. Overall - the original Stage 1 455 were conservatively rated at 360HP & 450 ft-lbs of torque.
Car was dyno'd at Car Craft Nationals in MPLS this summer & did 2 pulls - 293 & 294 HP to the rear wheels. The guy said the car was running too rich based on the a/f ratio & if was jetted down, it would go over 300 hp to the rear wheels.
Trans:
It has a TH350 that has been gone through w/ a new seal & clutches. The clutches were the larger band - kelver (?) w/ a performance shift kit & the factory stall was set-up to 2800-3200 RPM. The trans is very tight & firm & again w/ 6000 miles.
Front End:
Last spring I rebuild the entire front end of the car - new poly bushings, new ball joints (MOOG), new inner / outer tie rods (MOOG), new springs (MOOG), shocks (Elebrock performance shocks), everything was cleaned sanded, primed & painted - included the front frame. I had the car aligned to V8Buick.com specs - it drives straight, it is much, much tighter around the corners. It has a new steering box w/ new steering hoses as well.
Rear End:
3:42 posi w/ new brakes/ bearings. It has the 10 bolt
Chrome - all new bumpers, new rims, all new stainless steel molding on the car
weather striping - all new rubber weather stripping
Driveline - new brakes / calipers /rotors (front) / drums (rear) - bearings re-packed - tires have 6000 miles on them
Interior - all new carpet / dashpad / every light / buzzer / gauge works. The front & rear seats have been redone. The front seat is a power split bench w/ the drop down arm rest. The car still has the original brackets for bucket seats - they will bolt right in.
Exterior - The car was just repainted when I got it 2 yrs ago. The rear quarters have been replaced (patch panels - not OEM full qtrs). It has 2 or 3 coats of clear. The strips are painted (this is the only correct way for GSX stripes).
I have uploaded some shots of the car - I have pic's of the front end & some additional overall shot of the car for those interested.
Price - $ 19,500
