Camaro Z-28 RS . Up for sale is my RARE 1973 RS/Z28 4spd and A/C (currently not working) that was purchased new at Palm Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in Punt A Gorda Florida in May of 1973. I have owned this Z28 for about 2 years and I'm the third owner of this Z28. The original owner bought it new in May of 1973 and had up until his untimely death when he was killed in a car wreck and then the car was turned over to another family member who owned her up until 2007 when I got her. This is a "REAL" T coded in the VIN Z28 and on the cowl tag, and a "REAL" R/S as stated on the "ORIGINAL" dealers car invoice and purchase order. I even have a hand written piece of paper showing what the original owner wrote down as he checked off his options from the 73 Camaro dealers brochure that I also have plus the Original 73 New Car Warranty booklet showing his info, and the 73 Emissions control system booklet, 73 Maintenance Schedule booklet, and the Original 73 Owners Manual and envelope again showing his info. I also have an article in reference to the death of the original owner and telling about his brother Jim Davis breaking the land speed record in a 1970 Avanti 2 racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in western Utah.
I would love to call her a "Number Matching Car" but unfortunately I can't so I'll just say she has all of her "Original" drivetrain including her Original Numbers matching 4 spd transmission, and her Original correct coded and date coded 10 bolt 3:42 posi rear. As far as the motor it was decked when the original owner and his brother rebuilt it some years ago, but the CLJ suffix code is still visible showing it is a 350 manual transmission motor for a Z28 and all the date codes correspond to the cowl tag date. It had the correct heads that are also date coded correct and the intake manifold is correct and dated correctly also. I pulled the motor last fall and completely painted it from top to bottom, and while it was out I pulled the intake and replaced the gasket, installed a completely rebuilt correct carb, new water pump, fuel pump & line, clutch fan, rebuilt correct alt, restored correct exhaust manifolds, new plugs, wires, new Distributor converted to electronic ignition, new radiator, hoses, belts, battery cables, Chromed finned aluminum valve covers, ect, ect, ect. While the motor was out I completely repainted everything in the engine compartment and installed a New brake booster, master cylinder, new motor wiring harness, battery cables, forward light harness, new battery tray, charcoal canister, new front brake lines and hoses and rear also, brand new Pypes stainless steel dual exhaust system with a correct transverse muffler over the rear axle and polished stainless steel tips out the rear, emergency brake cables, ect, ect, ect. As far as the body and paint and her being a straight car I'll say she is a VERY STRONG 8 PLUS out of a 10. She was repainted her original Midnight Blue Metallic about 15 years ago but looking at her you would think it was just painted within the last year or so and there is "NO" rust showing anywhere on the body or the underside. The paint has a mile deep shine and a very smooth flat look that shows NO signs of any wear and there are only very minor surface scratches on her and No rust or paint bubbling or pealing. As far as I can tell the only body parts that may have been replaced are the front fenders, and the center of the trunk pan has been replaced. The floor pans are very solid and still have their original red oxide paint on them, and the frame rails are solid as a rock from front to rear. The interior is in Very Good Condition being a special order color Saddle that shows great against the Dark Blue Metallic exterior. The two front seats look to have been recovered not to long ago, and I replaced the carpet over the original GM tar type heavy underlayment, and installed a new rear pkg tray. The dash pad looks to possibly be original and is in pretty good condition but like most 2nd gen Camaros is curling up a little and the front passenger side corner of the windshield and the cowl has a little surface rust inside. As far as the gauges the tach, speedometer, gas, and temp gauges do work, and there is a correct AM radio that does work but is not hooked up due to the New Sony 6x9 rear speakers in the rear. .
As stated this is a TRUE Z28 as in the Vin #1Q87T3N, and the cowl reads as follows,
This is a Rare Z28/RS having a 4 spd trans, and Factory A/C and her original drivetrain, and the paperwork to go along with it, and the last year for the split bumper Camaro. I have spent a lot of time and money trying to get this Rare RS/Z28 Camaro back to as original as I possibly can, but now it's time to let her go. The only issues left on her are the heater core needs to be replaced if you are in need of heat, the A/C is ALL there but is not hooked up, and the front end might need a few bushings replaced due to some squeaking, but otherwise this 73 Z is in GREAT CONDITION.
Call before 9PM Eastern Time PLEASE.
