1/2 Mustang Fastback. 1968.5 R Code Mustang Fastback the fastest production car built in 1968. This particular R code was special ordered by Fred Adams Jr of London Kentucky though Bob Mullins Ford of London Kentucky. Fred Adams was the only owner of this rare R code from delivery date of June 26th 1968 until his death in 1999. This R code was truly his passion according to his daughter Cinnamon. She was brought home as a newborn in this car from the hospital. According to Cinnamon her dad cared for this car so much that it caused a divorce. One day Fred's wife stated it's that Mustang or Me., Fred showed her the door. The car was left to Margaret Adams (Freds mom) in Fred's will. The car was moved to Miss Adam's garage where it sat from 1999 to 2006. The car was then willed to Cinnamon Wilson (Fred's Daughter) in 2006 when Fred's mom died. Then it was tucked away in Cinnamon's garage and sat for 3 years until it was discovered in early January of 2009. The car was sold to current owner with the promise that it would be restored to the highest standards. The car was transported to a restoration shop where it was completely disassembled for a thorough Professional rotisserie restoration. This amazing car was showing 33,463 miles at the time of restoration and after thorough inspection they are believed to be actual. The engine looked like it had never been out and all main codes from intake, heads and block are all correct. WOW an R code with its correct coded engine and transmission! Original bill of sale, owners manuals, owner card, loan contract all come with the car. An ELITE framed Marti report has been obtained with window sticker also provided to new owner. Fred knew that the 1968.5 R code was the fastest car money could buy in 1968 but to make sure that he ordered the absolute fastest set-up he could get. This particular R-code is a true one off special ordered car, and it is one of only 33 built with the Y code 4.30 traction-lok rear axle ratio. Also special ordered with a code 5 wide ratio 4-speed. Most R code were bought or ordered with the intention of drag racing, Fred ordered his because he wanted the absolute fastest street car money could buy. This car was his pride and joy from new and there are no signs that it was ever modified or used as a drag car. This is a must for any ford high performance or Mustang collection. The restoration was done to a very high standard and was completed 04/29/2009, this is also one of the only known R-codes with original exhaust manifolds, correct complete smog set-up and starter delay switch. .
