Mercury Cougar XR7. Exterior: Body stripped to bare metal, primed and painted 1993-1995 New vinyl top and headliner, along with new front and rear glass seals installed 1995. Front vent glass frames, exterior mirror, front marker lights, front and rear bumpers and trunk lock re-chromed. New front and rear "Mercury" emblems, rear quarter "Cougar" emblems, NOS rear marker lights, NOS wheel well mouldings, and new rocker mouldings. All remaining exterior stainless trim hand polished. 1968 Cougar GTE hood scoop installed and front grill and tail light grilles painted satin black "GTE" style. All body seals and weatherstrips replaced. All body seam sealer removed and body seams resealed. Engine compartment and undercarriage stripped, primed, painted, and undercarriage undercoated. Interior: All glass regulators removed, cleaned, reinstalled, and adjusted for proper fit. All wiring remeoved from vehicle, ohm tested, voltage drop tested, factory tape removed and new tape applied. Heater/AC box seals and heater core replaced. Interior floor and firewall undercoated for sound deadening, 1/2" jute felt applied to rear of all interior trim panels and body floor, along with replacement carpet underlayment and firewall pad. New carpet, door sill plates installed, sunvisors, and attaching hardware installed. Drivetrain: 1993 305/5.0 block honed, cleaned and decked .010". Stock crankshaft micro-polished and oil holes chamfered, installed with Federal Mogul RACE bearings. Stock connecting rods reconditioned with new ARP rod bolts and re-sized. New Ford forged flat-top pistons. TRW hi-volume oil pump installed and with Ford Racing hardened oil pump driveshaft. Canton deep sump oil pan and pickup tube installed. 1965 289 heads decked .020, ported, polished, screw-in studs installed, Crane 1.6 roller rockers, Ford Racing hardenend pushrods, and Manley Race-flo 1.94 int. and 1.6 exh. valves installed. Ford Power Parts vintage 1969 aluminum hi-rise intake installed. Holley 650 double pumper carburetor. MSD pro billet electronic distributor and MSD 6AL ignition box. Braided steel fuel line from fender liner to carburetor, new fuel line from tank to fender liner. New fuel tank, sending unit, and Holley hi-volume electric fuel pump. Ford Racing billet steel flywheel with ARP flywheel to crankshaft and clutch to flywheel bolts, and Ford Racing King Cobra clutch. Tremec 3550 5-speed transmission installed with custom fabricated crossmember. (Use GM synchromesh fluid, available at GM dealers only) Steeda 85-93 Mustang double adjustable clutch cable with firewall adjuster. (Replacement cable is available through any 85-93 Mustang parts supplier as a replacemen adjustable cable, rubber bushing at firewall mount must be removed to insert in firewall adjuster.) Ford 9" center section rebuilt with all new bearings, Detroit Locker carrier, 3.91 gearset, installed in 2" narrowed H.D. 9" housing. Moser 31 spline custom fit axles. Suspension/Steering/Brakes New inner and outer tie rod ends, idler arm, adjusting sleeves. New upper and lower control arms, spring perches, and Boss 429 Moog replacement springs with 1/2 coil removed. 1 1/8" front sway bar with polyurethane bushings, and polyurethane radius arm bushings. KYB gas-adjust shocks front and rear. Poly rear leaf spring to shackle, and shackle to body bushings. Cal-tracs adustable underside traction bars. All new brake lines and hoses from master cylinder to wheels. New master cylinder. New front brake rotors, wheel bearings, and grease seals. Remanufactured front brake calipers with new pads and hardware. New rear brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and hardware. Over 30,000 invested.
