1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery

This is a Cars On Line.com Generation Slideshow Ad
Chevy Sedan Delivery . I decided to sell my project of 2 years in order to purchase an older classic Chevy convertible. This is 1 of 92 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Deliverys built with side windows as opposed to the sheet metal sides. This Sedan Delivery was originally owned by the U.S. Forest Service and spent most of its time in North Dakota. It was repainted red and you can still see the green color it had in the spare tire well. It was already painted red when I bought it and still had its original 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed transmission. I started by replacing the engine with a rebuilt 355 Chevy short block with new Dart Iron Eagle cylinder heads. I then added engine mounts to the bell housing and installed a rear cross member. I also added a polished Edelbrock intake and carb, polished valve covers, MSD distributor and Patriot Clippster headers. I installed a rebuilt 350 turbo trans with a mild torque converter and installed an Ididit steering column with shifter. I drove the car this way for a very short time and I realized that the brakes and steering needed some attention. I started by installing tubular control arms, dropped spindals, QA1 coilover shocks, disc brakes in front, power brake booster, dual master cylinder and stainless steel brake lines. I then replaced the gear box with a new 500 power steering box, power steering pump and hoses from CCP. I decided to replace the radiator with a Griffen aluminum unit and kept it in the factory V-8 location. I did not have enough room for a flex fan so I added a Flexlite dual electric fan assembly to the front of the radiator. I have the fan thermostat set to come on at 180 degrees. Most of the exterior chrome and trim is original and I was going to replace or re-chrome the bumpers and hood trim. This car has 1 of the cleanest bodies that I have seen for a Tri-Chevy car. All the supports, braces, floor pans and rocker panels are rust free and original. It also has a one-piece frame which has a cleaner look. The paint has a few minor flaws but it still looks great for a driver. Most of the interior is original and still looks pretty good, but it does have a tear in the seat cover and door panels have normal wear. I have not decided on a steering wheel so I temporarily installed the steering wheel shown. All the wood in the cargo area looks good and still appears to be original. If you are looking for something different to hit the shows, swap meets or shop vehicle to advertise your business.
