Mustang Boss Clone . Originally a Grabber Blue fastback with white interior, I thought it would look great with a few appearance modifications and get a little more attention as a Boss Clone. I was definitely right!
The engine is a 302 with minor performance modifications and dress up kit. I am selling the car as a non-numbers matching because I can't verify that the engine is original. It was rebuilt approximately 3,000 miles ago and runs extremely strong as it was balanced and blueprinted at the time of the rebuild. It was bored .030" over and reassembled with Keith Black Performance Pistons as well as a Comp Cam Camshaft. New pistons, rods, and seals as well as all other components as shown on the receipts. The shop that rebuilt the engine is a well known performance shop in the Metro-Detroit area and all work completed is verified by the receipts. Also installed is an aftermarket Edelbrock Performer Manifold and Holly 750 Carb with a manual choke. Recently I added a Pertronix Electronic ignition (no additional boxes under the hood) as well as an Ignitor Coil. The car starts great on the first turn of the key and the electronic ignition did wonders for the idle. It sounds great and doesn't starve for gas at idle. The transmission is an automatic C-4, also rebuilt at the same time as the engine with a heavy duty shift kit. The car will chirp the wheels going into second at 45 mph yet idles great at low RPMs. Also under the hood is a new power steering pump and alternator.
The car has power steering and manual drum brakes all around. I've thought about switching out the front to discs and adding a booster, but the car stops well as it is. It may take a little more effort on the brake pedal, but I'm not using for any type of performance driving -- some may have different opinions.
The interior is in better than average condition. The headliner is newer with no sagging or holes and I replaced the sail panels about 6 months ago. The sail panel lights are new and shiny chrome as are a lot of the other detailed components in the car. I am a real fan of the rare color combination of the Grabber Blue exterior and White interior. A lot of the 429 bosses had this color combo -- it draws a lot of attention at the local shows. The upholstery looks to be original and has a few loose stitches here and there but no substantial flaws. The passenger seat has a few nicks on the side but no tears and the rear back panels on the front seats are a little dinged up but recently re-painted so not real noticeable. All of the gauges, interior lights, heater controls, and radio work fine (that's about it for the bells and whistles). I've replaced and/or repainted a lot of the dash components such as the radio bezel. The carpet is in pretty good shape but not perfect. There are no holes or any blemishes/stains, it just isn't show quality.
I originally sent the car in to have a few areas touched up and to accommodate the Boss decals. The rocker areas were blacked out for some reason and a few of the Mustang Emblems needed to be removed/filled/blended. I also wanted the trunk lid, rear window molding, and rear valance blacked out for the authentic Boss look. Once the painter started blending the areas, he recommended that the entire car be painted so the blended areas wouldn't be noticeable in a few years...So the entire car was prepped and painted. There were no rust areas present at the time of the re-paint, just a few nicks and scratches that were improperly prepped before. The car looks great!
Ultimately, I hate to see her go but I've got bigger fish to fry right now. It was fun getting her into the condition you see here and she'll be missed. Please call with any questions as I'm sure I've missed some of the details. I can be reached via email or cell (please be conscious of possible time differences -- EST).
