Ford Victoria . Red/Leather, 17,400 Miles.
This 1932 Ford Victoria started with a Down's Mfg. fiberglass body, 2" chop. After extensive research, Down's was chosen because of the hand-laid fiberglass method used and extensive steel support around the body.
A TCI "rolling chassis" was purchased, using independent front suspension with adjustable coil-overs in the front and parallel 4 bar in rear, also with adjustable coil-overs. The suspension is polished stainless and chrome. All was removed to powder coat the frame. Other frame highlights include polished S/S fuel and brake lines; braided flex lines at ends. Rack and pinion steering, power assist 11" front disc, 10" rear drum brakes. Currie 9" posi., 3.70:1 gears. The Optima sealed battery is enclosed in a Bitchin Products billet battery housing.
The engine compartment houses a GM 350 hp fuel injected "Ramjet". The intake housing and fuel rails are chrome. The chrome valve cover tops are painted body color and detailed with V8 logo and pinstriped. Polished a/c compressor, chrome alternator, Moon water temp. and fuel press. gauges, mirror stainless on firewall and ceramic coated Sanderson headers. The S/S 14 gal. original style gas tank, with enclosed fuel pump, is from Rock Valley.
The transmission is a 700-R4 by Phoenix Transmissions (4 speed automatic with overdrive), 2,000 stall. The transmission floor shifter, gear indicator, original style emergency brake handle are from Lokar. Their cables, brackets and fittings are used throughout.
The interior is very nice and smells of leather. It is a non-smoking vehicle. More notable features are; Classic "Vintage" series gauges, including steering column mounted tach gauge. Vintage Air a/c and heat. Both are more than adequate. The sound system is a Pioneer am/fm/cd with xm satellite radio. With 4 Blaupunkt speakers, it has a great sound. The cruise control is by Rostra. The electric windows work by touching the old style handles slightly up or down. The front and rear seats are from Rod Doors and have been modified. The seats and backs are pleated black leather. The balance of upholstery is an excellent matching vinyl. The carpet is dark gray nylon cut pile. The banjo style steering wheel is from the Wheel Shoppe and is wrapped in black leather. The steering column and turn signal housing are polished, and are from Limeworks. There are duel 12v acc. plug-ins under rear seat for cell phones, cooler, ect. There is a main 12v disconnect located here. There is a security light on the column drop, with hidden switch. To minimize interior heat and noise, a ceramic base coating (Lizard Skin) was applied to the floor, firewall and into doors. Standard foil and fiber type insulation was then applied under the complete interior, prior to carpet and upholstery.
The street rod is built to a "retro style". All trim parts and pieces are original style; polished s/s or chrome. The polished S/S grille insert was hand crafted by Dan Fink. The original style Sparton "aaooga" horn receives lots of smiles and thumbs up. The two-tone paint (PPG Vermillion Red/Harley Vivid Black) is a base coat/clear coat type and is brilliant and stunning. The custom pin striping between the body colors is beautiful and was done by Von Dago in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. The final detail is the hand crafted luggage trunk. Covered in black vinyl and trimmed in black leather; completely lined with felt. A Model A rack was modified to place the trunk in close to car. The finished car rolls down the road with Wheel Vintiques chrome spoke wheels; BF Goodrich tires on rear, Michelin's on front.
This car has won many awards since completed in June, '04. 2004 awards include Best Paint, Best of Show and others. In 2005 it was appraised at $77,100. Also chosen to be shown at "Hot Rod's And Harley's", an invitation-only at the Tacoma Dome. 2005; 15 awards in 15 shows/events; including GOODGUYS "Rodders Rep Pick" at West Yellowstone and winner of "Gotta Drive Em" category at GOODGUYS West Coast Nationals at Pleasanton.
