Plymouth Superbird

Plymouth Superbird . Tor-Red (Hemi Orange), 440, 4 Barrel, 4 Speed, Dana 3.54. RM23U0A169492. Car number 1076 on the Superbird Nascar serial number list. Approximately 65,000 miles on the body and chassis. I have owned this car since 1981. All original sheet metal, Chrysler Warranty replacement blank pad engine, date correct hemi 4 speed transmission, original Dana 60 differential. In 2006, I awoke my car from its 22 year storage slumber and, with the aid of a professional mechanic, returned it to driver status. EVERYTHING has been inspected, repaired and/or rebuilt. This car drives as well now as it did the day it was built. I guarantee you can drive this car across the country if you choose. This is a very "correct" car. I use the term "original" sparingly and only to describe those things that can easily be authenticated. For instance, I can claim and demonstrate that all the sheet metal on my car is original. It is quite obvious, to even the untrained eye, that the quarter panels, doors and fenders have never been off the car. One only has to look under the car to confirm this. Most of the interior is original. The engine and transmission are not the assembly line installed original components. They are, however, correct for my car. The differential is original as denoted by the date on the ring gear and the assembly date stamped in the axle tube. With many other components, originality is almost impossible to authenticate (especially on other cars that have been extensively restored). Correctness is more easily authenticated. My car is essentially unrestored. It is a very clean, very correct, beautiful driver quality car. It is not a rotisserie restored show car. For highly detailed explanations of every aspect of my car, please go to Superbird Details. For some interesting reading, please go to the Mopar Muscle Magazine article about our road trip in the Superbird Magazine Article. The Devils Tower shot is a popular one. It appeared in the February 17th, 2008 edition of the New York Times. You can see it at: NY Times Photo.
