1957 Desoto Sportsman Firedome|
Desoto Sportsman Firedome. This is a beautiful, rare, hemi car with the famous push button automatic. It has 83000 original miles on it and to my knowledge, I am the 2nd owner. It has always been garaged and is virtually rust free with the exception of a little scale under the original trunk mat. It has never been cut or modified. The body is very straight. Interior seats were recently recovered (not original pattern) along with new carpet. Original door panels still look nice, but headliner has minor tear in both corners. A after market radio was hung from the dash and the original is still. There. Paint is original color and had one repaint. The generator was replaced with a chrome alternator years ago. Motor is strong, has lots of power, doesn't smoke or leak. Brakes were recently worked on.
If you don't like the custom 50s look, I will gladly remove the lake pipes and put original wheels and hubcaps on the car for you. I also have the original air cleaner. All the trim and stainless and look very nice, but the bumpers should be rechromed to make this car truly beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere, but it draws a crowd everywhere you go. Not many of these beauties left and I never see any other 2 door hardtops.
