"Oldsmobility is yours for 1959," the Oldsmobile advertising jingle proclaimed. Bobby Darin dominated the music Billboard charts with "Mack the Knife", a Snickers bar cost a nickel, Alaska and Hawaii were admitted to the union, and GM was trying to outpace Chrysler's popularity with the buying public. Bill Mitchell, head of GM design, promoted elegant lines over big fins. He penned the 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible to lead the new "Linear Look" of Oldsmobile. It was a longer cleaner look which accentuated the massive 126.5-inch wheelbase. But the Ninety-Eight was 223 inches from stem to stern, actually seven inches longer than its 1958 counterpart. As always, the Ninety-Eight was Oldsmobiles top-of-the-line model for 1959.
A couple from Spokane, Washington just posted their 1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible for sale. It comes in the typical '59 Olds two-tone styling in White Pastel and Blue Metallic finish. Although there were 7,514 Ninety-Eight convertibles produced in 1959, very few have survived till today. They say this one has been restored to show quality and has achieved 958 points out of 1,000 its first time out after it was done. In the description you can read about how it was awarded Best in Class at the 2016 Oldsmobile Nationals in Colorado Springs. They tell us it has only been driven 200 miles since the restoration.
Take a look at the 394 ci, 6.5 liter V8 in the ad photos. It is the largest first generation Rocket V8, used from 1959 until 1964. The 1959 version with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor produced 315 horsepower. The Ninety-Eight had the most technologically advanced items available, such as the "Jetaway" Hydramatic automatic 3-speed transmission. These cars were so well made that if you kept them up they would run forever. The drivetrains were as "bullet-proof" as any car ever made.
The Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight C-body shared the same chassis with the Buick and Cadillac again that year. The suspension system, steering system, brakes, cooling, chrome and stainless steel trim have all been restored on this one. And if you look at the photos, you'll see the unique headlight setup that really distinguishes the 1959 Oldsmobile look.

Last week we introduced our readers to the new 2017 Karma Revero, a solar powered hybrid that is targeted to give Tesla a run for its money. Powered by an exclusive solar roof panel, the 2017 Karma Revero is as elegant as it is high tech. Global Luxury Imports in Burr Ridge, Illinois will be one of the select dealers to sell Karma in the Midwest. Today, for the first time, you will see ads for the 2017 Karma Revero in our newsletter. Soon you will see the new Karma section on our website as well. The Revero is longer and sleeker than the Tesla Sedan. It is a four-door, but has an elegance that is more engaging for the performance car enthusiast. Click here to review the 2017 Karma Revero and learn more about its features and options.
Honestly, some cars are going to take a little longer to sell than others. We usually treat you to stories about how cars sell fast. But here is one that you can appreciate. A happy seller wrote us when he marked his car SOLD this week. "It took a long time to find the right buyer, but along the way we got LOTS of inquiries, and it cost nothing to keep the car out there for prospective buyers to see. You have a GREAT SERVICE that is worth its weight in gold. We got a good price, a happy buyer, a happy seller, and a happy me, who placed the ad! Thanks so much for a great website." Hey, that's what we like to hear! Jack just marked his 1978 Studebaker Avanti as SOLD after spending just $45.00 for a Run Till Sold ad. Now Jack knows why we also say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." To review more vehicles SOLD Thru Cars On Line this week click this link.

Newsletter readers may remember when a real 1956 Jaguar D-Type sold for $21.78 million at the RM-Sotheby's Auction in Monterey last summer. Interestingly this week, a very authentic replica, a one-off build, is being offered for sale in our Jaguar Section online. You will want to read the build information on this 1957 Jaguar D-Type reproduction. It was actually built using wooden bucks to hand form the aluminum body panels with an English wheel. The man who did the work is a well-known New Zealand craftsman. Click here to review the build information. A race driver who piloted a real D-Type back in the day says this one handles and feels like the original. This is a magnificent piece of automotive history to own.

New and restored parts compose this impressive, custom-built 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible. It's a professionally restored A-body convertible that includes a fresh 1970 360ci small block with 340 performance J-heads, Edelbrock carb/intake, Petronix ignition, long headers and more. An experienced owner from Kalispell, Montana says the flathead engine equipped to this 1935 Ford Pickup is the best running they've ever had. We're told it may fall short of being a show truck, but it's without a doubt a fun driver. Features include a new gas tank, rebuilt radiator, hydraulic brakes, and a Ford rebuilt 24-stud engine. It'll be one of next week's DEAL of the DAY features, priced at only $15,250.
Get smiles wherever you go when you get behind the wheel of this 1957 Nash Metropolitan from Ukiah, California. The private seller tells us everything works on the fun, little microcar. A seller in Houston, Pennsylvania tells us this 1963 Chevy Impala 2-Door Hardtop is extremely reliable, with only 38,092 miles on the odometer. It remains a great driver and is said to be a "super highway cruiser." It's proven itself on two Power Tours, Americruise, two Turkey Rod runs and more! It has a 327ci engine with 4L60 (Gear Star) Overdrive. Click through to the ad for more! And don't forget to note the price. It's just $17,500, making it one of our picks for next week's DEAL of the DAY feature cars.

According to the private seller, this “unique Dart” is very clean and ready to go! Under the hood you’ll find a strong running 340 motor mated to an automatic transmission. What’s more, we’re told the vehicle has a very solid frame and still retains its original spare and jack in trunk. See additional pictures when you visit the ad. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The price is only $14,900.
A private seller from Lima, Ohio just listed a 1947 Buick Super Sedan for sale with a price so good, we just had to make it one of our DEALS of the DAY. According to the seller, the 4-door sedan is 95% rust free and shows just 67,900 original miles. Under the hood you’ll find a rebuilt Straight 8 engine with new pistons and rings. The vehicle itself wears dark green paint with a mirror-like finish. It’s all complemented by a set of whitewall tires. Hurry on this one – it’s going to be our DEAL of the DAY next week with a price of just $14,500.
