It has been a big year for Billy and Debbie Thomas of Corpus Christi, Texas. Their 1939 Oldsmobile Model 60 Convertible called "Olds Cool" has won more and done more than any other custom car ever built. In February 2016 it won the coveted Ridler Award in Detroit. Then it won the Goodguys Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year award at the Goodguys Columbus Nationals. When the November edition of the Goodguys Gazette came out last week "Olds Cool" was on the cover. We expect to see it again at the final Goodguys event for 2016, the Goodguys 19th Annual Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, November 18-20, 2016. To get your digital edition of the Goodguys Goodtimes Gazette and read all about "Olds Cool" click here to register. Here is a Pontiac performance car connoisseur's dream. This week a 1971 Pontiac Trans Am 455 HO was listed for sale by a collector from Miami, Florida. In the words of the owner, it is the "nicest '71 Trans Am available." You can judge for yourself when you view the photos at the ad link above. The Cameo white '71 TA comes with lots of documentation (see photo.) The current owner says he bought it from the 3rd owner. He says "Matching Numbers: engine, transmission and body. Original color. Engine bay is very clean and original. Trunk is like new." He says it still has just 59,000 original miles. It is one of 2,116 Trans Ams built that year. They say only 1,231 of those came with automatic transmissions. We think this rare original is worth checking out.
Rick Nelson, a Chevelle LS6 expert and historian, said this is the finest LS6 he has ever seen, according to the owner/seller. It is an Autumn gold edition with black interior, black vinyl top, automatic on the column, AM/FM 8-track, rare cloth bench seat and it is said to have just 20,984 documented miles through four owners. This 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 is located in Dyersburg, Tennessee and was purchased by the current owner in 2015. He says it has all the original sheet metal and 50% original paint. He credits it as having a full numbers matching, born-with drive train and motor. However the transmission is not original. It has all the paperwork - Protect-O-Plate, delivery slip, transit slip and bill of sale from the original dealer. Click the ad link above to find out more.
Auctions America is preparing an exclusive offering of fine classic and exotic motorcars for their auction sale at Hilton Head Island during the big concours weekend there, November 5, 2016.
Last decade Porsche rolled out their version of an exotic super car called the Porsche Carrera GT. The early versions came with many “pure racing” technologies to reach the blistering speed of 200 miles per hour, with a recorded 0 to 60 mph time of less than four seconds. Now these cars command the attention of Porsche collectors. This 2004 Porsche Carrera GT will be auctioned to the high bidder at the Hilton Head Island sale by Auctions America. It comes with its 10 cylinder 5.7L engine and 6-speed manual transmission. They say it has only 24 miles recorded on the odometer. Click here to view the video.
The 1932 Lincoln KB V-12 5-Passenger Sedan was Lincoln's answer to the Cadillac V-16, Pierce-Arrow V-12 and Marmon Sixteen which were motivating wealthy Americans of that era. But when Lincoln did it they created the V-12 with their precision engineering, using seven main bearings, fork-and-blade connecting rods and separate cylinder blocks. Only 216 were produced. This excellent version will be offered for sale at the Hilton Head Island Auction.
By 1967 the C2 Corvette had reached a level of maturity in styling and stance that few cars ever achieve. This black 1967 Corvette Big Block 427/435 Convertible with the teal interior and stinger is one of the most desirable Corvettes on the planet. It has the tripower carburetion system and is a 4-speed example with side pipes and four-wheel disc brakes. It will be hotly pursued by Corvette collectors when it crosses the auction block at the Hilton Head Island Auction.
Also see these very rare lots:
1983 Ferrari 512 BB, valued at over $180,000

The dealership does an incredible job of presenting the all-steel roadster, not only showing us inside and underneath it, but also taking us along for a test drive. We are so excited to show you this very nice 1966 Mercury Cyclone GT, factory "S" code car This is an original 390 (335 HP) 4-barrel, 4-speed car. And it is being offered at a very affordable price. Model and body code 63H - 2 door hardtop (bucket) Cyclone GT Color Code 8 yellow. The seller discloses some minor dings and scrapes. He says the front suspension has been rebuilt, and that it comes with a complete new brake system (master cylinder, brake lines, brake shoes.) It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $18,500.
An elegant 1960 Ford Thunderbird with a continental kit, shaved doors and a beautiful pearl white paint has been listed for sale out of Port Charlotte, Florida. The seller says it is in overall excellent condition with chrome in very good condition. He calls it an "excellent running and shifting automatic. In the ad it says the car is rust free. And the reason why is because it is stored inside. Although they don't show it in the photos, they say the engine compartment is detailed. This car is worth having inspected. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday as the price is very affordable at $13,900.
The first production Ford Mustangs came out in 1964 although they were called 1965 edition cars. The nickname collectors have given them is "1964 1/2." Collectors place a higher value on these early production 1964 1/2 Mustangs. This 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible in Royal Maroon comes with the early 260 V8 engiine, black interior and top. The top is manual. They say it was restored in the 1970's, and that the motor and transmission were rebuilt by professionals. It is certainly one worth having inspected. The seller says it is ready to drive and enjoy. Although the average price on early Mustang convertibles has risen to $34,000 recently, this one is being offered at much less. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is $24,500.
Motorcar Studio in Atlanta just posted an unusual import car which appeared in our Sport Compact Tuner Section this week. They listed a 1990 Nissan Skyline, an unusual four-door version with automatic transmission. But under the hood lies a truly amazing GTS-T RB20 engine swap. Not only is it fast and ready, but you won't find another one of these anywhere. For the sport compact hobbyist this is a "dream car." The seller says it is a recent import and comes with a clear Georgia title. For the sports car guy who has everything, here is one for the record. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price in the ad is just $14,900.
A rare 2-door convertible has been added to the Buick Performance Car page on Cars On Line site. A Greenville, Michigan collector posted his 1970 Buick Wildcat Convertible for sale. The seller says it comes with its original 455/370 hp big block engine, automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, cruise, tilt, power steering, power brakes, Power windows and convertible top boot. Buick only built 1,244 of these luxury muscle cars.
Volkswagen collectors know that the most desirable motor they put in the Beetle back in the day was the Super Beetle 1600 cc engine. It gave the VW the power to be quick and fast on freeways. A 1971 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible was just posted in our Volkswagen Section this week by a private seller from New Lisbon, Wisconsin. He says it is a California car with lots of new parts. It looks outstanding in the photos. He says it runs and drives well and comes with a car cover. Take a look at the photos. You really want to have it inspected to see if it will be the right car for you. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY because the asking price is only $6,800.
The Buick Electra 225 was the luxury car of choice in the 1960's and early 1970's. In the coming week one of our DEAL of the DAY selections will be this black 1970 Buick Electra 225 Convertible from North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. Click this link to view a video on You Tube now. It is a driver quality car that could use some detailing under the hood. They say the big 455 V8 is numbers matching. But North Shore Classics has just dropped the price on this one from $19,995 down to just $14,900. That is a price reduction of $5,095. Better hurry!
