A 1988 Lamorghini Countach 5000 has been chosen by Cars On Line.com readers as their 2016 CAR of the YEAR. The contest for 2016 CAR of the YEAR closed on Thursday with 22 percent of respondents voting for the the exotic Lamborghini from Gateway Classic Cars in St Louis, Missouri. (Click here to view the 1988 Lamborhini Countach 5000 profile page from Gateway Classic Cars.)
The 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000 defines the term “exotic sports car.” It leant a sexy genre to a generation of sports super cars so untamed and beautiful that they excited the primal instincts of a “go-fast” generation. It was our banner story for our first Cars On Line newsletter in December and boasted equipment such as a high-revving mid-engine V12, canteleavered "Lambo" doors, beautiful ground effects and the road-hugging wing. We are told that this particular Countach 5000, white with red leather interior, is one-of-a-kind, ordered red leather and left hand drive for the U.S. market. The odometer reads just 22,848 kilometers. The 5000 Ouattrovalvole engine produces 420 horsepower, revving up to 7,500 rpm!
The 1988 Lamborghini Countach 5000 was chosen from a field of cars featured this year in the Cars On Line newsletter. Our newsletter readers and their friends were invited to vote in the 2016 CAR of the YEAR poll during the last two weeks of December. Cars On Line readers caught wind of the poll when they read about it in the 2016 COL YEAR in REVIEW published in a recent Cars On Line newsletter. The response from this year's CAR of the YEAR poll was outstanding.

Even as Cars On Line was spending the past two weeks finding out which car their fans would pick for CAR of the YEAR, Motor Trend Magazine was also at work picking their 2017 CAR of the YEAR from among the coming year's new car offerings. Indeed their pick for CAR of the YEAR was the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV. The Bolt is not GM's first all-electric car. The 1960's Chevy Corvair, the EV-1 and the Spark all were its predecessors. Yet Motor Trend is very impressed with this all-electric car.
The eCOTY judges hired by Evo Magazine each year chose their annual "best pick" among performance cars in December. They selected the 2016 Porsche 911R as their CAR of the YEAR. The Porsche 911R had the most visceral road feel for the eCOTY judges. They said it was the most fun to drive for a sports car enthusiast. It is one of the few naturally aspirated super cars left in the new car world. It has a 4.0 Liter Flat Six producing 500 horsepower and 338 ft-pounds of torque at 6,250 rpm. Click this YouTube link to watch the eCOTY judging with commets from the judges.
It only took two weeks for this man from Greenville, Texas to sell his 1933 Ford Victoria Street Rod through his Cars On Line ad. "Nice job," he wrote on his SOLD form. The popular Ford Victoria came with a matching Coca Cola trailer. It has a Ford 302 HO, Edlebrock 1406 4-bbl, HEI, C6 automatic, power brakes, windows & seat. The seller SOLD his street rod using our $45.00 Run Till Sold ad. Now he knows why we always say: "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars On Line." Click this link to see what else SOLD this week on the Cars On Line website.

In the year-end report just released, the collector car market seems to have enjoyed a comeback in the fourth quarter of 2016. Cars On Line's 2016 Market Trends Report shows values are up 4.3 percent for the year. The report covers the sales prices of collector and specialty cars during the months from October to December of this year. These will be the final numbers for 2016.
These numbers are compiled using results from the top collector car auction companies here in the U.S. We use the average values on No. 2 condition cars as our sample group. The sample group is made up of cars that are significant to the market or change hands frequently in today's market. You can see the full report by following this link to our 2016 Market Trends Report page.
Ford collector cars enjoyed the biggest increase in values during the quarter. Our statistics show Ford collector car prices have increased by 12.2 percent during the past year. Chevrolet cars are also up 5 percent this year. The 1958 Chevy Impala Convertible show above is one of the cars that has gone up the most in value this year.
In 1966, only 59 GT350H model Shelbys purchased by Hertz Rent-A-Car Company came with the Ivy Green finish and gold Hertz stripes. MS Classic Cars of Seekonk, Massachusetts is offering this rare colored 1966 Shelby GT350H for sale this week. They note: "These Shelby GT350 Hertz editions are among the most collectible classic cars of all time," and add that, "They are the true definition of a blue chip investment." It is fully documented and is in the SAAC Registry. The mileage is believed to be just 72k original. Click through to the ad page to see more photos and a ton of documentation.
Even the best ads can fail to deliver the kind of impression you might want before deciding to buy. A good inspector can make a difference. In the case of this 1964 Ranchero, the inspector confirmed details in the ad, and was able to include many more that were not mentioned in the online description. He determined that the overall condition was good, and that it was a nice cruiser car. He also detailed the many modifications made, such as the 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra-sourced 5.0 Cobra Vortech Supercharged engine and custom interior with low-back buckets. Take a look at the sample report and see for yourself. We've included just 50 of the 178 photographs the inspector took for the report. Our contracted inspectors are not affiliated with any sales organization. Their loyalty is to the buyer. Click here to find out how you can order one!

This 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Newmarket is unusual in that the records show that it was originally fitted with a Newmarket body by Brewster & Co. coachworks, unlike most Newmarkets that were fitted later in the life of the car. They only made about 67 Newmarket bodies for the Springfield cars according to the ad by Gullwing Motorcars. This one has a complete owner history and is said to remain structurally sound and running. Much of the fabric remains original and there's a period trunk as well. See many more unique features. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
You won't find a restoration effort on a 1959 Olds 88 quite like this one. A seller in Arvada, Colorado just posted it and tells us it has an original 371 High Compression Olds Rocket engine, fully rebuilt to factory specifications. Other features include a new dual exhaust, mild turbo mufflers for an amazing low rumble, and more. The paint is the original color, Russett Metallic (MMM). Finally, the interior is "over the top" as the seller tells it. Don't miss this one. The price is just $18,500, and will be the feature DEAL of the DAY come Saturday.
Here's an affordable street rod from Just Toys Classic Cars. It's a 1948 Olds Street Rod that was ahead of its time. It features a sloped rear end, long hood, big fenders, and enough room for six. The paint still shows well, as we think you'll agree from the ad photographs. Features include Dolphin gauges, tilt wheel, a new AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo, and a cold-running A/C unit. That price we mentioned? Just $19,995. It will be our DEAL of the DAY feature car on Sunday. Happy New Year!
A private seller from Tyler, Texas listed this custom-built 1963 Chevy Nova Convertible last week. It's powered with an all aluminum LS6 with carburetor, not EFI. There's also a Turbo 350, B&M shifter, all stainless exhaust, and Ford 9 w/370 gears, and more. You'll find it in a SLIDE SHOW ad with even more details. Don't wait too long though. This one will be one of next week's DEAL of the DAY feature cars, priced at only $27,000.
When's the last time you saw one of these? It's a 1955 Chrysler Crown Imperial with plenty of options from a private seller in Mesquite, Texas. It has power everything, a rare, factory rear A/C, automatic transmission with a Hemi that runs quiet, and more. The interior and paint are said to be in good condition. There's additional photographs to view in the ad. Take a look! This one will be one of next week's DEAL of the DAY features, with a price of just $17,500.
"Better than showroom condition." That's how the seller describes this 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 currently for sale in Manorville, New York. According to the ad, the vehicle has been meticulously cared for and only driven on the nice days. We're told it has only had two owners over the years and is 100% mechanically sound. See for youself when you visit the ad! This one will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The price is only $17,750.
Cleveland, Tennessee is where you'll find this 1966 Mustang Coupe for sale. According to the seller, the baby blue Mustang is powered by a 289 engine with 4-speed transmission. It sits atop Red Line tires with chrome classic wheels. Don't forget to take a peek inside at the blue and white pony interior. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on the Cars On Line.com front page next week, because the asking price is just $15,500.
